The Tomahawk Leader (WI) Is:
- A state and national award-winning weekly newspaper that prides itself on its dedication to local news and happenings that affect the City of Tomahawk and surrounding communities and county. The Leader and staff have been honored in nearly every award category possible, from general excellence, editorial and feature writing to photography and indepth reporting.
- The official publication for our City, the Tomahawk School District, local townships, the City of Merrill and Lincoln County. We are the only newspaper in Lincoln County.
- Published each Tuesday (delivered by mail) and available on newsstands to approximately 4,500 paid subscribers. We also publish a total market coverage shopper to provide advertisers with 100% saturation of our market area.
- Owned by Co-Publishers Larry and Kathy Tobin. Larry is a past president of the Wisconsin Newspaper Association, an organization that represents 264 daily and weekly newspapers statewide. Kathy, who also served as editor, comes from a family rich in community journalism, now spanning three generations.
- More than 110 years old, making Tomahawk's newspaper one of the original businesses in our community. While tradition gives us a strong foundation, we also continue to be innovative in our field. We use 4-color photography every week, showcase a number of local columnists and an active Letters to the Editor page. We also highlight schools, sports, business news and human interest stories.
- An advocate and strong supporter of local education, health, business, youth and community service organizations.
We Also Publish:
- North Country Style
- "What's Great About Tomahawk?"
- A 4-color brochure that involves business and citizenry in personally sharing good news about our community. Distributed in May as a newspaper supplement and made available throughout the year as a PR piece and resource guide.
- Specialty publications such as: Logging, Wedding, Home Improvement and Senior Sections
