Community Calendar and News Briefs: July 16, 2019

 

Tuesday Storytime at the Tomahawk Main Street Farmers’ Market in downtown Tomahawk will be held every Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. through July 23. Storytime will be held at the Tomahawk Library in the event of rain or excessive heat.

 

The Tomahawk Public Library’s 2019 Kids’ Summer Library Program features “Incredible Bats! A Live Bat Show!” at the library tomorrow (Wednesday) from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

 

The public is invited to a free viewing of “CHOSEN,” a film revealing the techniques used by recruiters to entice kids into human trafficking, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 18 at Eaglebrook Church, 1025 Margaret St., Woodruff. A time of open discussion will follow, led by guest speakers Butch and Jean Fitzpatrick, Ambassadors of Hope from Shared Hope International.

 

Lakeland Coin and Stamp Club will be sponsoring the Lakeland Coin and Stamp Club Show Saturday, July 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Woodruff Town Hall, one block east of the Post Office on Highway 47, Woodruff. Two Tomahawk coin and stamp dealers will be at the show. Admission is free.

 

CESA 9 in Tomahawk is offering Substitute Teacher Training on Monday, July 29 and Tuesday, July 30. Individuals with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree and who successfully complete this training are eligible to apply for a Substitute Teacher permit. The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Centr Lincoln County Health Department,al Wisconsin, North Central Health Care, University of Wisconsin Madison Extension, Lincoln County Social Services and FSET (FoodShare Employment and Training) are welcoming the community to attend an Open House Monday, July 29, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Health and Human Services Building, 607 N. Sales St., Merrill. Attend to learn more about what services, resources and opportunities are available in Lincoln County with these agencies.

 

The Antique Outboard and Motor Club will be having its annual antique and classic outboard motor show, swap meet and sale at SARA Park in Tomahawk Wednesday, July 31 through Saturday, Aug. 3. Each show will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 8 p.m., with the exception of Saturday. The event is free of charge. For more information, contact Bob Dalle Ave at 715-356-5649.

 

Tomahawk Public Library will host a children’s Moving to Music program Mondays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The program, combining music and movement to help young children learn to control their bodies, encourages caregivers and kids together to have fun clapping, marching and moving to music.

 

Prince of Peace Church, 1328 County Road A, Tomahawk, invites the public to attend free and confidential Community Healing Rooms to receive prayer for healing. The rooms are open Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. Contact Paula Thomas at 715-453-4119 with questions.

 

Open Arms Community Soup Kitchen is open Tuesdays, welcoming any hungry souls as well as those who want to socialize between 5 and 6:30 p.m. at the Corpus Christi Center adjacent to St. Mary’s Church.
