Computers, cell phones, TVs, other devices accepted

Good News Project e-cycling is hosting an Electronic Recycling Event at the Merrill Festival Grounds (Steckling Building, E. 6th St. entrance), Friday, Aug. 2 from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon. The event, offering data secure recycling, provides a convenient drive up/drop off setup.
All proceeds will benefit the Kiwanis of the Greater Merrill Area and the Good News Project of Wausau.
By responsibly recycling electronic devices, toxic materials are kept out of landfills, and the strain on natural resources is reduced.
The event is an opportunity to recycle any old or unused electronic devices. Computers, monitors, speakers, mice, keyboards, laptops, printers, scanners, computer parts, fax machines, televisions (all sizes/types), VCRs, DVD players, gaming systems, cords, wires, cell phones, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, microwaves, vacuums, stereos and just about any other electronic device with a cord or circuit board are accepted.
Liquids, paints, chemicals, large appliances, batteries, light bulbs, newspaper, cardboard and cans are not accepted.
The cost to recycle most items is 40 cents per pound. 60 cents per pound is the rate for TVs with compromised housing, and dehumidifiers will cost $20 each to recycle.
