Re: Packers Vs. Colts

Brian, What would you think of Poppinga on "obvious" running downs & Chillar on "passing" downs? They both seem fast & I agree Chillar is a better coverage LB, but I think Poppinga might be a better run enforcer. That's a tricky problem. Brady Poppinga has some pretty go...

Re: Packers Vs. Colts

The wife and I were at the game and Lambeau Field was ROCKIN'! The running game still needs some work but, man, watching that defense play was a whole lot of fun! Peyton kept whining to the refs trying to get some sympathy calls but they just laughed at him. I don't know that I'd put Al Harris back ...

Barack Obama - Our next President!

Despite Larry Tobin's breathless endorsement of McCain/Palin (gee, never saw THAT coming), Barack Obama will, thankfully, become our next President for the following reasons. And Larry, if you are reading this, please understand that ANYONE who voted Bush/Cheney in the past has now lost all credibil...

I'm guessing that Mariana is thinking of the Nokomis township. Those folks are celebrating the town's 60th anniversary.

Here's a photo of Main Street (Wisconsin Avenue). Judging by the vehicles I'd guess late 1930's to early 40's. If you look closely you can see 'Old Scout' crossing the street. Probably heading for Spike's Pool Hall...

Re: Looking for advice!!!

The following always worked for me: Add fuel stabilizer to the gas. Run engine for a few minutes. Shut off engine and remove spark plugs. Add a teaspoon or so of oil directly into the spark plug hole(s). Turn engine over a few revolutions to help coat the cylinder walls with a film of oil. Reinsert ...

Mullet17 has been awful quiet this year. Hmmm... I wonder why? In any case, while the Bears/Vikings go at it tonight on Monday Night Football, I am going to be a big Bear fan. C'mon Pandas, beat those 'Queens!

Re: superbowl

I don't think that it's unreasonable at all to think that Green Bay can make it to the Super Bowl. They are finally being recognized for what they really are - a good, YOUNG team that continues to improve each week and that has some darned good coaching and some very talented personnel on both sides...

Here's a link that may help you, Roger... Wisconsin JobNet Search If you expand your search to include not just Lincoln but Marathon and Oneida counties as well you may just find something that'll fit. Good luck! (FYI - In accordance with a recently passed State Law, upon residency, you will be requ...

Re: What's with all these geese!?!

Short of killing them, it's tough to get rid of geese that have become 'nuisance residents'. If these are birds that fly in and land on the grass you'll have to chase or scare them out (but they'll be back soon). However, if they land on water and then walk ashore you might have pretty good results ...

Pardon me while I don my 'Mr. Know-it-all' hat and argue that the wilderness pole, as described in Jed Buelow's piece, is actually crafted from a white pine tree - not a red pine as the article states. I'll even go out on a limb here (I know, I know - bad pun) and bet a Pine Tree Supper Club steak s...

Re: Policy needs to change …

It's law - not policy. Absent a compelling reason, the police have no probable cause to enter your home. "Because the neighbor said so" isn't going to stand up in court. The investigating officer - himself - needs to observe something that would give him cause to enter. If he gets there an...

Re: Would you like a dog park?

However, with all the paper company land, state and national forests, etc. so close there are plenty of areas to take your pet for a walk and truly let them "run". Yeah, except for the wolves... but, hey, that's another thread! While I think the idea has some merit, I'd much rather see so...

Re: Wolf attack hits close to home

There is, of course, a rightful place for wolves in our environment. That place, however, is not in the middle of a hiking trail tearing your dog apart. The natural order of things is that wolves which do not either possess or learn sufficient fear/avoidance of humans will soon be removed from the g...

Ace Hardware has bird seed and they're open all day Saturday and half of Sunday. I've also found that, in a pinch, Viegut's carries just about one of everything if you're not too picky about getting exactly what you wanted.

Re: What are the chances?

I almost want to say the whole thing is a hoax. I find it hard to believe that someone uses a massive white pine for home heating. You might just as well burn birch, tamarack or old shingles. If that IS the case, they'll probably be calling TFD for their chimney fire before long. Conspiracy theories...
