Re: Stoxen's Closing

There is Merrill. You don't have to go inside Shopko as they have a drive-in. The pharmacy is in the front part of the store. We have to shop locally!!!!! I imagine there is a hardship for those who do not drive but you have a car.

This years 4th of July parade

What happened to our parade this year. No Harley, no R&J car, no stock cars, no pulp trucks, local merchants missing, fewer bands, etc. etc.

Question about high school

Was talking to a woman who says she walks in the highschool almost daily and I did not know you could. Then I heard there was an indoor track and a walk around the swimming pool. My kids attended there but it was over 30 years ago and I do not remember this. About 18 years ago I took swimming classe...

Tomahawk Grocery Stores

I am glad to see the opening of a second grocery store in Tomahawk as competition is good and we can handle two I am sure. During the bridgework many people went out of town to shop and now perhaps they can shop locally which is good for Tomahawk. Just recently several people mentioned that upon buy...

Re: Warning sirens in Tomahawk

Next week there will be a day for Tomahawk to prepare for an oncoming tornado. Again we have no sirens. I realize that they may not be heard indoors and I realize they are expensive but to save 1 person to me is worth any cost it incurs. We can have drawings for a sign to be put on highway for touri...

4th of July parade (again)

Well last year I complained about the Tomahawk High School Band of Tomahawk because "no one" was in step. Many posts followed mine agreeing with me. I truly thought I would see an improvement this year. We had many nice bands in the parade and of course I watched them march. They were all ...

Warning sirens in Tomahawk

I was just reading that Merrill activated sirens several times to warn residents to take cover when their tornado struck saving many lives. I am under the impression that Tomahawk's sirens are no longer in working order. I hope I was misinformed. If not, Lord help Tomahawk if a tornado heads that way.

Re: 4th of July parade

I feel that our discussions on this subject were not in vain. Will see next 4th of July. Somewhere along the line the director has gotten the message. We are proud of Tomahawk a city that is working together to get through all this bridge construction. Hopefully we can be proud of our band next year...

Re: 4th of July parade

I did print out most of these posts and sent them to the band director. If that didn't work then I doubt the board would make any difference either. We will see won't we!!!! I would be thoroughly ashamed if I were him. It, apparently is not a priority. I would rather see a band marching perfectly an...

Re: 4th of July parade

I sure stirred up a bucket of worms since I first posted this. I am comfortable that I was not the only one who was shocked and embarrased by the band's lack of proper footwork. Maybe a stint in the service will show these kids how to march proudly in step. Maybe this was not posted in vain. Maybe s...

Seniors with no computers

Just read how challenging it is to keep in touch with seniors who have no computer. Duh...... What happened to the good old telephone or the U.S. Mail. Pretty sad one might have to put out a little effort to those we love. I am sure a senior with no computer would be thrilled to receive a phonecall ...

Re: bears

Just talked to the lady who had the bear problem. I wanted to hear the story right from the horses mouth so they say. She was on her ATV with her two dogs who were running with her. One dog was in the brush with a ball in its mouth when the bear come out and stood on hind legs. The dog did NOT bark ...

Re: bears

From what I understand the dog was barking etc. at the bear which of course aggrivated the bear. I believe the dog required medical attention but the woman was scratched trying to rescue the dog. Would hardly call it a bear attack as the woman did not require hospitalization and was released right a...

4th of July parade

As usual I enjoyed the annual parade with one exception. The bands playing always are a joy to see EXCEPT our own Tomahawk band. They play well but no one is in step. I watched the other bands and they marched proudly in step. Then comes Tomahawk where no one is in step. No matter how well they play...

Re: Where are the flags

We all can imagine what happened to the flags. A few tickets to drivers who do not stop at crosswalks may put an end to the problem. I laughed so hard when I saw the flags. What in the world were they thinking of. A kid in one hand, packages in another. And holding a flag too? A total waste of someb...

Re: Thrilla on the Grilla

My complaint was misunderstood. I certainly did not mind the 2 block walk. I was only thinking that the stores would not be accessable to all and the proprieters would be losing business. Anything that brings people shopping in Tomahawk is a big plus and that is what I was concerned with. Guess ther...

Re: Thrilla on the Grilla

I was not going to the Thrilla on the Grilla but to one of the local stores in town. Was surprised to see the streets all blocked off. I had to park two blocks away and walk to the store. Had I not needed the item I wanted, I would have just stayed away. There must be a better system.
