Re: Pow Wow Days
If you're looking for top notch marching performances, perhaps somebody should start a dedicated marching program to develop the talent and material necessary. Just because a kid plays an instrument does not mean they will can deliver grade A performances regardless of venue. For a group that meets ...

Re: Gas Prices Revisited
Gas price dropped to $3.42 a gallon today in Uptown Minneapolis. (woot woot) I stopped driving myself to work back in January, company carpool lasted until about a month ago. Now that its warm, I enjoy a nice walk or bicycle ride every morning and evening. Works out great for now, as traffic drives ...

35W Bridge Collapse in Minneapolis
What an insane thought that on an average day, I probably would have been on that highway, en route to Roseville.

I'm all for defending your friend, but slandering everyone else isn't exactly the best method of defense. Unless you're a politician.

Re: Now it's my turn ... A sister's perspective
I certainly understand the anger and frustration that comes when somebody you are close to commits a crime. I have been in that position. The rumors and talk do take a toll, but there is no reason to personally attack anybody for stating their opinion. You might consider the fact that you DO post yo...

Re: Rock star dreams
To throw some support out to more local bands, check out Tomahawk's own Rojo Diablo , Tomahawk native Marcus Ridley's Last Night's Hero , and Tomahawk native Kirk Hrabik's Niobium . I'm sure there are more local acts than that, but ive been out of the area for too long to keep track. If anyone has m...

sorry, i apologize for my "big city" opinion. but i stand by it.
I think that businesses that allow smoking make it clear which patrons they wish to serve.

Re: Proposed work place smoking ban in Rhinelander
nobody forces anybody to breathe second hand smoke. is it really that hard to just not eat/drink/work/whatever in a place that allows smoking?

(No, I don't smoke.)
If you dont like eating in a smoking establishment, go somewhere else. If you dont like working in a smoking establishment, get a different job. Why should people cater to nonsmokers?

kudos Dave. couldnt have said it better myself. I enjoy the right to choose not to go to a smokey bar, I cannot favor a law telling everybody else that they cannot smoke.

what gets me is the way these guys "hunt".....rather than go into the woods, find (thus the "hunting" part) some quail, and shoot them, they drive out onto a ranch in their nice comfy car, to where the quail are held in captivity, wait for quail to be flushed out, then shoot. I w...

Yeah, its pretty much the same thing the republicans did when Howard Dean screamed at that rally.
BUT, this incident did result in the number 1 funniest episode of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Re: Christmas
i have a hard time believing the bible as the word of God. in over two thousand years of being translated and rewritten, through so many stages of society and culture, i look at it as a really long version of the telephone game. alot of the main ideas might be the same, but alot of it might just be ...

i dont think it matters......people should lighten up about the whole situation. yes, each system of beliefs deserves to be recognized, but i think for example if someone says merry christmas to someone who is jewish, it would be stupid for the jewish person to be offended. politely inform them of y...

The angriest I have ever been.
I just returned from the festivities downtown, and I have to express how downright furious I am at what I saw tonight. Apparently our Fall Ride brings out the most ignorant, closed minded *ssholes. I saw several people (maybe local, maybe not) wearing shirts with, for example, a swastica, and the wo...

Re: Hurricane Katrina
I, personally, am a fan of Dr. Ben Marble, the guy that walked up and told Cheney to go f**k himself. its funny how cheney can tell sntr. leahy and its okay, but when someone says it to him they end up being detained by fbi and secret service agents...even if only for a half hour.
