Re: Boy Scout decision on membership
Yes, but a huge difference between being gay and being a pedophile. The 2 are not related in any way. I don't know what world you live in but I might like to try some of the stuff that puts you there. It must be really good. I'll just go ahead and let the ignorance of this comment stand on i...

Amazon Prime is two day shipping, not next day (although I do occasionally get things the next day).

Re: Business Opportunity
I think OK printing offers some of these items. It's also a very difficult business (even the big office supplies stores are struggling to compete with Amazon).

Re: Concealed carry
Old Scout, For those that travel and want to be able to carry in most states it's generally not that hard. In reality, for those people it would actually help if Wisconsin made it's rules more strict as then more states would honor our permits. Full disclosure, I have a permit. I've never carried in...

Unfortunately one of the "State" politicians that wrote this is from Irma and represents Tomahawk... The truly ironic thing is the schools around Janesville are closed today because some nut job robbed a gun store yesterday, apparently sent a letter to Trump and is rumored to be planning t...

Re: Wheel Tax
Technically the ATVs are registered already. They're paying a registration fee just like you are for your car. If you want to see more of that money diverted to roads that's an option. The ATVs are also paying the fuel tax, which goes directly to paying for roads. Based on your reasoning shouldn't o...

Re: What ever happened to Fulsher School?
It's not the city, that school is far enough out that it's going to be one of the townships, which will likely have much looser laws.
You would need to get the township to pass new laws and then enforce them if you want anything to change.

Re: Stupidity at colleges
You could also make a pretty strong case that those students should feel safe at any public college and if the administrators aren't going to do their jobs and help ensure all students have an equal chance at an education then those administrators should be replaced. Pretty sure you would demand som...

We're removing it as fast as we can. The users have been banned by email and by IP, it doesn't make a difference as I suspect it's all computer automated and probably people's infected computers that are doing the posting. They just use a different IP and email address the next time. We recently per...

Re: Changes in the electoral college vote
And the first person that runs on a campaign of funneling ALL tax dollars to the 10 largest states, and is going to cut their taxes but raise taxes everywhere else? They'll have the votes to win if you get rid of the electoral college. There are very good reasons the founding fathers chose that syst...

Re: Changes in the electoral college vote
Renee, your example of Hawaii is exactly what I mean. Hawaii's vote would not matter, at all, in a presidential election without the electoral college. The population of Hawaii is approximately 1.42 million people. Obama won the last election by nearly 5 million votes. In 2008 he won by 9.5 million....

Re: Are we at war with Islam
Old Scout, The bulk of my reply specifically talked about terrorism and the idea that we're getting it wrong. I even suggested a start to a long term solution (education both here and abroad). I also linked to a podcast that was entirely about terrorism. How is that not discussing the issue? Not to ...

Re: Are we at war with Islam
Old Scout, Strange, don't remember any complains that Bush wouldn't call them Islamic Extremists either??? I think the Daily Show did a video that cut between both presidents and they basically are wording it exactly the same way. Also, a number of experts on terrorism have pointed out that history ...

Re: Are we at war with Islam
From what I saw the comment that Islam authorizes their actions is considered questionable and it's pretty important to note that Jefferson himself was a slave owner at the time so slavery of others (which is regularly mentioned in the bible) wasn't a moral issue for us either...

Old Scout, I'm guessing in general we're probably on the same side of this issue. However, you're stats are bad. You mention that only a small portion of those shot by police are black criminals. While police shoot fewer African Americans than Caucasians when you factor in percentages of the populat...

You may want to contact the Leader directly to see if they are able to help. There also are people on the message boards that live in Tomahawk that have offered to try to go dig up old obits.

Renee, I doubt there is much the Historical Society can do about the Chamber website. It might be worth it to send an email to the Chamber (using their website) to suggest they make changes and include better info. I'm also guessing the "It ain't gonna happen" is partially due to the same ...

There are three locations that may have this information. 1. Tomahawk Public Library - At least in the past the library also mai...

Re: School days
Old Scout you're still missing it. Going from 8 class periods per day to 7 makes each class longer. Then adding the extra minute or so does as well. I believe it adds 8-10 minutes to each class, each day. As long as the kids get the same amount of teaching time overall why does it matter? In reality...

Re: School days
Doubt it saves much, if anything on teachers as I believe they get an annual pay anyway. However, there is a major portion that Old Scout missed. I believe they are also changing from an 8 class day to a 7 class day as part of the process (which lines up with many other areas). That, along with the ...

Renee you do realize a lot of people make a LOT of money working for non-profit organizations correct? Just because an organization is non-profit doesn't mean it can't afford to pay employees well. Hospitals could be run a lot more like our utilities are, where a state board has to approve price inc...

Stoxen didn't just close and give the info to Shopko. Shopko bought Stoxen and then closed it, just like they bought Northbay and "changed" it to a Shopko Pharmacy. When a business is purchased the customer data is part of the deal (that's basically what the business is, access to customer...

While I would say there are times that the school does get a say in what students do on private time (athletes sign a code of conduct pledge and can't drink or use drugs at any time for example) you are absolutely right on this one. Unless the kids got on the bus I don't see how this is any of the s...

Yes, they can. However, that isn't what the reports were. Record (large) crowds at SARA Park, record money made for MDA. Perhaps if business is down then the businesses need to think of additional ways to draw the bikers to them. I'm guessing Bubba is putting a lot of time and money into getting peo...
