Re: Looking for an Obituary
Glad to read that one obit is on its way to you, Bob. I was planning to go today after bowling but won't now. Let me know if and when you need any research done here locally. If you have any ancestors buried here I can take a photo of their grave. I volunteer with findagrave.com

Re: Stoxen's Closing
Another down side to only having one pharmacy in town is that in the past where it took 20 min. or so to get a prescription it now takes an hour or you might have to stop back the next day. With everyone having to go to the one place they are swamped. Had a prescription called in by the Doc. this m...

Re: Stoxen's Closing
Deb, Shopko did hire some of Northbay's employees, not all of them. They brought in some new people too. I still will always prefer independent stores to big box stores. I will take the quilt store next door to me over Joann's Fabrics. I will take an independent scrap book store over Michael's. I do...

Re: Stoxen's Closing
There is Merrill. You don't have to go inside Shopko as they have a drive-in. The pharmacy is in the front part of the store. We have to shop locally!!!!! I imagine there is a hardship for those who do not drive but you have a car. You seem to know me but I don't know you. I prefer local AND indepe...

Stoxen's Closing
I am NOT happy about the letter I received Saturday that Stoxen Pharmacy is closing. All their records will be given to Shopko. I prefer independently owned stores, not big box stores. Shopko is a big box store. I don't want to get my prescriptions filled there but what choice is there? I can't driv...

Re: Exposé of blight in city
I live in Tomahawk and I agree with Darrell. Yes, there are other places worse but I don't live there, I live here. So Tomahawk should have gotten the grant because YOU live here? Sorry, I guess I missed the rose ceremony last year. No, homeowners and landlords should have to clean up their propert...

I don't think we need another pharmacy, and I'm not sure we need another optical department. What we do need are children's clothes, and both adult and children's shoes. Years ago Ben Franklin carried the Garanimal clothing line for kids but they don't any longer. Other than souvenir type teeshirts ...

They really need to add a like button. Good one Old Scout!! How is everyone doing otherwise? Any predictions as to what our winter is going to bring? Will gas prices continue to drop? Any suggestions for winter reading once I have my Christmas knitting done? The Soldier's Wife by Margaret LeRoy, a ...

Third, you're unemployment numbers might have been accurate...... Hmmm, you are employment numbers? Ahhh, your employment numbers. Sorry, couldn't resist. There's a bridal shop, a women's boutique with nice clothes, the surplus store for camping/outdoor clothes, and Ben Franklin with Hatchet gear and very limited clothing. The Mercantile store has some limited clothing also but not for everyday wear, more what you buy on vacation like sweatshirts and...

Re: If it’s not broke, don’t fix it!
Reduced traffic in town, kids can sleep without hearing a train of motorcycles every two minutes, no loud music... I'm failing to see a downside here. I was also glad to see the police have again increased their forces. The message is still falling on some deaf ears, but hopefully soon they will ge...

I recently had one of my cats die, she was only 4 years old. I had apparently dropped a tylenol and she ate it. Tylenol is deadly to cats. I felt horrible, she was a much loved kitty. So I am extra careful now when I'm opening a medication.

I've just moved here this summer, having lived here also in the 1980's. There is no shoe store in Tomahawk. There is no stand alone bakery in Tomahawk. Regarding donuts, I hate Crispy Creme byt Dunkin Donuts would be good  There's no children's clothing store. There's a bridal shop, a women's ...

Re: Which Zoo
I actually prefer the Como Zoo in Saint Paul, MN. It's free :D The MN Zoo is nice but expensive. It has a different concept than most zoos. You ride an elevated train to see most of the animals. The Como Zoo is just your old fashioned zoo that you remember from childhood. I've been to the Milwaukee ...
