Re: Spirit River Dam

Now we just have to get in the habit of stopping for the stop signs on the bridge below the dam. I asked the county the reason for them and this is the reply they sent. The stop signs are for logging trucks. They are coming at 90,000 to 120,000 pounds and bouncing on the weak bridge deck. The cars h...

Re: Boy Scout decision on membership

I didn't say that all would be a problem, but it increases the chance and protection of the boys is the prime consideration ! ! ! !

Take that as you may, but it has happened and can happen again and that is my concern.

Everybody has the right to their opinion, right , wrong or indifferent.

Re: Boy Scout decision on membership

Yes, but a huge difference between being gay and being a pedophile. The 2 are not related in any way.

I don't know what world you live in but I might like to try some of the stuff that puts you there. It must be really good.

Re: Your thoughts on downtown mid-block turns

if you drive to the intersection and do it correctly.

You may want to reconsider that part. The intersections are all posted as "No U Turns". The only place you can do that is at the end of WIS Ave. by the RR station.

Re: Your thoughts on downtown mid-block turns

I have to admit, coming down Wisconsin ave. from the east, going to the Post Office, I`m on the north side of the street, I see a spot right in front of the Post Office, I`d hang a left , and pull into it. You may not want to do that in the future. :o Providing that the Police Chief allows ...

Re: Spirit River Dam

If they`re not using the equipment, why don`t you and me take it down the road and clean up The Fulsher School area! Where would we find all the big dumpsters to haul every thing away? The roof has fallen in and I would be a bit nervous to go inside. The best thing anyone could do would be t...

Re: Spirit River Dam

They are working on it now. Mon - Thurs, long days but 3 day weekend. Not sure what all they are doing but a lot of steel has been driven in behind the berm. they also built a road to reach the south side for their equipment.

Re: Your thoughts on downtown mid-block turns

Speaking from experience, I have had two close experiences where I was within inches of being hit by a driver making one of the mid-block turns. Once in front of the Furniture store and once by the Post Office. It was just luck that I saw the car coming into the parking place next to me and we were ...

Re: Business Opportunity

I have tried the off brand print cartridges from several suppliers and have enough of them fail or not perform that even at a cheaper price I question their quality. For use at home a case of paper would last me into my next life time. If I was in business it might make sense but for use at home lar...

Re: Business Opportunity

Online w/ free shipping will save you 90%+ over a retail store especially for ink ,toner and cases of paper...e-Bay, Amazon, Office Depot, Staples...only business that survive and doing well these days are restaurants, bars, hair stylists and funeral homes. What world is that in ? 90%, I think you a...

Re: Business Opportunity

Given the choice, I would rather stop at a local store and pick up supplies when I need them rather than wait a week to have them delivered.

I and I am sure a lot of other people don't do a lot of on line shopping and would rather go to a store for our needs.

Business Opportunity

If someone is looking to open a business I have a suggestion. I tried today to buy some mailing labels and some other printer materials. Now that Ben Franklin is gone I ended up going to Shopko. They had nothing on the shelves for printer supplies so the project I was working on is shut down until I...

Re: Spirit River Dam

I can see why they figure on having the dam done by Thanksgiving. They bring in a piece of equipment and disappear for the rest of the week. As of today they have a lot of equipment and trailers parked around the lot and on the dam but I haven't seen anyone there doing anything that looks like they ...

Re: Gas prices

I have often questioned the pricing of gas in the area. Seems a little strange that all the producers prices go up at the same time. I have heard rumors that when one dealer gets a raise in price that phone calls are made to the others so they can follow suite and thus avoid any type of price...

Re: Spirit River Dam

Lots of equipment around the parking lot and by the dam, but haven't seen any work getting done. Looks like they are just using the place as a parking lot. Haven't even seen any people around.

Re: Spirit River Dam

From the amount of equipment and supplies they are hauling in it must be a rather serious repair they are planning. Seems like I read that they plan on putting some kind of plate in on the water side. Perhaps MrBrowns can fill us in as I believe he is the one that wrote about it.

I went by the dam today and there were people there working on it. Looks like the day has finally arrived that it will get fixed. :D

Re: Concealed carry

Just to show how crazy this whole thing is. When concealed carry first became available I applied for my license. The only requirement I had to meet was to send them a copy of my retired military ID and my DD214. No classes, just a background check and my card came in the mail in about a month. I ha...

Re: Concealed carry

I sent a message to our local state rep. to let her know how I feel about this. Don't know if it will do any good but at least she will know that everyone is not in favor of it. Hope there are many others that pass this information on and hope for at least some modifications to the bill. Here is the...

Re: Concealed carry

The more I think about it the more concerned I am about not having training or a background check etc. Yes they do one when you buy the handgun, but if you buy it from an individual, or have had it for many years and there was no check run, no one knows whether you are legally allowed or not. I feel...

Concealed carry

I am having a bit of a hard time with the idea of allowing concealed carry without any training or other qualifications. I totally believe in being allowed to carry but there are people who have never owned or had any training on the proper use of a hand gun. On the spur of the moment they decide to...

"gerrymander"

I have to chuckle at the big finesse over the "gerrymander" discussion. It's not like it doesn't happen every 10 years no matter which party is in control. Makes me think of a bunch of little kids having temper tantrums to get their own way. I find it difficult to justify spending our tax ...
