Re: Proposed work place smoking ban in Rhinelander

Now I will REALLY open a can of worms: How about greater restrictions on drinking? (Maybe just penalties for drunk driving, certain types of drunken behavior and underage drinking, perhaps?) Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot, that would hurt most of Wisconsin economy because liquor is perhaps WI's most lucrat...

Re: Proposed work place smoking ban in Rhinelander

I agree. I can think of vices that cause far worse problems, particularly social problems, than smoking. Some businesses choose not to serve alcohol, but I would bet if there was a ban on businesses serving alcohol altogether, there would be a HUGE outcry. :) <small>[ May 11, 2006, 09:33 PM: Message...

Re: Bush Bent On WAR!

Perhaps you don't believe any of the bad things Saddam Hussein was said to have done to his own people, either. That's why we have done nothing about Darfur, we think it has to hurt us personally before we do anything about it. We only seem to care if something bad happens to US, or OUR KIDS, or esp...

Re: Bush Bent On WAR!

Let's see, in addition to what Kerry said there was a necessity in many situations during the Rev War to resort to what we used to know as "guerilla warfare", now known as "terrorist attacks", because the colonists were outnumbered and initially at a disadvantage. King George did...

Re: lets start a NEW thread for a change.....

Actually, there is more than one allergic to peanuts and there are a few angry moms trying to get them banned. But seriously, there seems to be way too many things that are being put forth as worthy of banning. Perhaps we ought to try going back to the golden rule rather than spending years of red t...

Re: Ups-n-Downs on Statewide Ban on Smoking

Now look, I didn't like people smoking in the office, I was glad when it got moved outside. I would just as soon they smoke in a public place than inside my workplace. Gay parades and peace protesters bug the gabeezers out of me, but I haven't called for a ban on them, not on "diversity holiday...

Re: Bush Bent On WAR!

Yawn. Some wars were started for really good reasons and much of the popular thinking of those different times was completely against them and more than a few thought the idea of violent engagement in each one was positively ludicrous. Many also thought starting them or being involved in them was in...

Re: Proposed work place smoking ban in Rhinelander

I am allergic to marijuana, does that mean I can sue anyone who blows marijuana smoke in my face if it becomes legal and have a ban placed on it? How about carpetfresh, room deodorizer, weeds, incense, potpourri, hairspray, perm solution, mold, "scented" dishsoap, "fragrant soaps"...

Re: lets start a NEW thread for a change.....

I say hear hear, smoking doesn't cause nearly all the social problems that other societal ills and vices do...and most of them are MUCH WORSE. In addition, as a pollution source it ranks way down below cars and coal burning plants--so are we to ban those too? :D As for second-hand smoke, I would get...

Re: Proposed work place smoking ban in Rhinelander

I find this amazing. If it is anything at all politically correct (gay marriage), then it always MUST be "anything goes and you are not allowed to disagree with it", but if it is not politically correct (in this case, allowing smokers to smoke is nonpolitically correct) you must not even b...
