Re: Lake Alice

I live on lake alice, and it is my understanding that there is a water easment that is +/- 6 inches from the mean water level. In otherwords the water level can vary no more then 6 inches. In the 20+ years we have had one drawdown in 1986ish for repairs to the dam, but that is it. As for the fishing...

Re: 'Black Box' Recorder in Your Truck

Hahahahah! Actually there are numerous sensors in every motor vehicle made that record some form of data. Where they are and exactly what they record is considered an "industry secret." This was ostenstiably to gather crash data for r/d of safer vehicles, but data of this type has been ene...

Jamie was indeed a very special person who had much to give. I too share the frustration and grief from this PREVENTABLE crash as it took from us a great person. Get mad at me if you want, but I have seen more then most the devestation that poor choices can make when it comes to alcohol and motor ve...

Re: Death of FES Student

Nell, I couldn't agree with you more. It reminds me of when LCEMS would do the "Mock Car Crash" and the students would swear to not drink and drive, and to use a designated driver for thier parties. I would shake my head and say, "but don't you know that drinking at your age AT ALL is...

I admit that I was very skeptical about the prospect of thousands of people camping and partying in Nokomis park. However, I was very impressed with how quickly the park was cleaned and with the decent way most campers conducted themselves. I spent a good bit of Friday and Saturday kicking around th...

I find it interseting, and a comment on this man's state of mind, that he constantly refers to himself as "Homer Van Meter" when his name is John. The reason that I find it interesting is that there was an actual historical Homer Van Meter who just happened to be John Dillinger's right han...

Re: Organ Transplants ?

Dang.. you guys beat me to the information. Oh well. I can tell you that I spoke to our tissue coordinator here at Sacred Heart and it was confirmed that any type of tissue donation is free of charge to the donor's family. I am pleased too that Wisconsin rates high on the list for donation. Oh, and ...

I find this discussion both fascinating and disturbing at the same time. Why? Well becuase we are entering into a realm of anti-science and pro-religous dogma. I too was taught that Darwin's evolution of the species was a theory. However, the ID people are teaching thier program as "truth"...

Speaking of the barber shop, next time you are there, ask about Becky's son! He just recieved the meritorious service medal from the Boy Scouts for saving the life of his cousin. Dalvin jumped into running water below the king's dam to save his non-swimming cousin from drowning! Sorry if that is off...

Hmmm... is it just me, or does this post make no sense what so ever?

Are you talking about Iraq, or I-39?

I am unsure as to the direction (no pun intended) your query is leading.

Re: Perhaps I'm just blind

It is my understanding, and someone can correct or embelish as they see fit, that one of our Tomahawk veterans is creating a memorial whereby he places a rock for every service member killed in the line of duty in Iraq since operation Desert Shield. I forget who the gentleman is, I have seen him out...

I have been stunned by the images of the hardship that the entire American South has been enduring. I am disgusted with the federal relief effort. To wit - the feds are saying "we can't help unless we are asked." B.S! I think everyone should listen to the interview of the Mayor of New Orle...

I am not against the idea of getting a tatoo; my wife has them, many of my firends have them, and I would consider getting one. However, I have yet to find an image of which I am enamored of that I wish to afix it to my corpus for the remainder of my venerability. <small>[ May 17, 2005, 04:33 PM: Me...

Lake Alice Drawdown...

Greetings,
I have been looking for more information as to when and if Lake Alice will be drained to fix the dam. Anyone have any more information beyond what was discussed at the town meeting a month or so ago?
Thanks.

The best beer I ever had was at the Ratskeller in a former East German town of Stendal Germany. They happened to have a firefighting museum that I had to check out while I was there. Anyway, We had the local beer "Koenig Ludvig Brew" - dark and thick, and room temp, but it was delightfull!...

Greetings, I think Kerry EARNED the right to speak out against the war. Only a soldier knows well the horror that is war. There is not a soldier alive that willingly seeks armed conflict. For him to speak out against the Vietnam war is his undeniable right, as it is for us all. However, I think he c...
