Re: Tomahawk High School

It should be noted that, unless something has changed, the teachers' union will retain the right to negotiate wages.

Re: Tomahawk High School

Neup99, just a couple of comments... First, anyone that thinks the schools are actually going to be funded is going to be in for a big surprise over the next couple of weeks. The current proposal is simply a stop-gap measure to fix a few months. The actual two year budget is coming in the next week...

Re: Tomahawk High School

How would you expect this bill to affect every aspect of your education? The teachers will have to contribute more to their own health insurance and pensions. Will they be any less productive teachers because of this? I would hope not. The state government is trying to manage a current deficit of $1...

Re: Tomahawk High School

So, where were the seniors during the Harley Davidson or LP layoffs? Are you going to tell me that more students would be affected by this bill than those layoffs? What about when Tomahawk Foods was forced to close or the many layoffs of Nelson's County Market staff? Did the seniors suddenly grow a ...

Re: Tomahawk High School

Today's Lesson: Education Comes Secondary to a Paycheck I would have to vehemently agree with Old Scout. Fortunately, my kids are not old enough to be in Tomahawk's public school. Once they are old enough, we will likely be moving or transporting our kids to another area school district for this and...

Re: The Ice Road

That makes sense. I've heard that there are lines (I can't remember which type, gas, power maybe) that run in the general area that you described. Were there more houses on the south side of 86 in that area or is it just pretty much the ones that are there now? Well, aside from the one that was burn...

Re: The Ice Road

Where the new and old ones right next to each other? That must have been pretty tight as there isn't a whole lot of room there. Or, was RP's/Happy Snapper not there at the time. BTW, it was an older woman who told me. She also said that the log trucks would use the ice road so I figured the informat...

Love Snopes! But neup99 why must you be a fun sucker. Oh wait I have been known to forward Snopes. Never mind. I've heard that the same thing was done when other bridges like the one on 86 by Happy Snapper was being repaired/replaced. I took the ice road last night. A little rough for cars, but it should be no problem for trucks. It defiantely saves time. Especially at night when those who are already uncomf...

Sorry, but they're somewhat false tidbits. Well, mostly false. Almost all false really. I wonder how much "knowledge" that is passed around at parties and work comes from like e-mails. Maybe that's how the whole global warming idea got started. http://www.snopes.com/language/phrases/wagon....

Re: Brett Favre

I don't see how making a veteran QB prove his commitment to the team was "good old boy tactics". Apparently he thought that he didn't need to show up to training camps because of past years. Nevermind the fact that even if he didn't need the workout, working with his new receivers was a ne...

Re: We Gotta Git Out a here!

I think one thing that has been kept companies from leaving is the production value of a Wisconsinite vs. people in some states. I'm not saying that we are the only state that produces quality labor, but there are other states that do far worse. But you are right, with the tax incentives to move els...

As in past years, it was too long, took at least one life and produced more drinking and driving than the area will likely see throughout an entire year.

Other than that, it went well.

You know, if you believe that God is our Father and in the end it turns out to be alot of 'hocus pokus', you probably lived your life as a good person and then you die. If it was indeed hocus pokus you lived a good life and you didn't lose anything. Unfortunately, some people believe that if they a...
