Re: Pow Wow Days

I didn't see the parade, but I've seen some performances at the football games. I'd like to hear from someone involved with the program chime in to give their opinion on whether it's a lack of motivation or a lack of support. Or maybe a different issue?

Re: State Budget

There are many things that are against some law but which the commission of does not make you "criminal". Some people drive over the speed limit every day. Right, and if I get caught speeding, I pay a fine. If the illegal immigrants would pay restitution for the social security, welfare a...

Re: State Budget

Here you are whining about what you perceive to be a costly budget and you want to spend untold Trillions of dollars on finding, hunting down, sifting out, and transporting millions of people to the other side of an imaginary line? Untold Trillions? OHHH, I see! You mean Trillions of Pesos! For a s...

Business censorship

Just curious why one thread was locked because it was asking for the names of contractors, yet in another thread about senior transportation, a company name was given. Is this because senior transportation is considered more charitable (even though it may well not be) or because it wasn't caught in ...

Re: Bradly park camping

Until Tomahawk sends out our factories, refuses to allow any industry or form of income other than tourism, and has more Florida and Illinois plates than Wisconsin license plates, I don't think there's any danger of turning into Minocqua. Good news on the Riverwalk / Hiawatha trail. It'll be n...

Wow, Kerry! I didn't take you for a Republican. I would agree with the canoe idea over the bridge. Also, for most items, utilizing the local businesses would probably be more appropriate, but I think their would also be room for charitable support as well, such as boy scouts selling firewo...

Re: Bradly park camping

We added several full-hook sites to our already self-contained sites at our local Elks club. We attract traveling Elks clubs from all over the state. These people spend a small fortune into our local economy each year. And not just at the lodge. It's interesting that you bring this up. My brother b...

Re: Bradly park camping

I don't think the reason we're loosing resorts and campgrounds is necessarily due to too few customers (although in the current economy, I doubt it's helping either). A big part of the problem is the combination of ridiculous taxes and everyone's desire to own a vacation home. It now makes more fin...

What's wrong with John Madden? Great coach, horrible commentator. Can't take a joke either. Frank Caliendo does a great impression of him though. I will miss that. As far as the Favre circus goes, I'm more disappointed than disgusted. Mostly because he will be remembered for the last two years more...

neup99, you have made me feel defensive by "calling a spade a spade". You've made the personal attacks, not me. Had I said, "Your family owns big obnoxious RVs." That would be a personal attack. I was just stating my opinion on how I feel these types of units could negatively im...

I heard an interesting quote a while ago regarding concealed carry: "It's better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6." Even though I could supply a lengthy list of people I would never want to see carrying a gun, I can't say that I don't believe it's their right. You know, the whole...

Unfortunately, I believe this will become more common. Between vets who are coming home after fighting in Iraq and Afgansitan, the poor job market, and housing crunch, families are going through difficult times. The point I want to make is that we all need to be aware of our friends and families and...

You're close. What I meant by taxers and taxees are politician vs. taxpayer. While there may be a loop formula in that politicians pay taxes, my interperetation is that the "teabaggers" do not feel that the government is representing thier values and ethics.

Re: Tea Party

It's a shame that the partisanship took the lead in the media over the basic idea of the tea parties. From what I understand, this idea came primarily from the libertarian sector, but the GOP took most of the credit. The focus of the media seems to be placed on the two sides of politics being republ...

I didn't realize this was an actual problem. Then again, I didn't realize there was a state houserabbit society. Has anyone bought a rabbit for an Easter gift for a child? Then again, I didn't realize there was a state houserabbit society.
