Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

I guess guess when you shake down the taxpayers so you can bribe countries at up to 30 billion dollars a peace, somebody should come along for the ride. This is how rich boy Bush has been use to getting friends his entire life.

Re: PETA-files after Arafat to save animals from war

"...[S]he didn't urge Arafat to stop the bombing of innocent civilians..." Well she should have and perhaps someone could mention it to George Bush II who seems intent on putting himself in the same category of Arafat, Suddam and the likes.

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

It took America 25 years to admit it but the protestors in the Vietnam conflict were essentially correct. At that time it took several years of war to get protests of this magnitude. This time it looks like they are ahead of the game and better organized. I hope there is no Kent State II. Thirty thr...

Re: Terror Supplies?

I don't know if gods can vote on earthly polls. I will abstain for now and check the bylaws and get back on that one. Actually the Court had to so something conservatives usually rail against on the election issue. They had to interpret the law (not necessarily the constitution) and even though Gore...

More on this: http://www.cas.muohio.edu/~stevenjr/mbi111/impact111.html From above unfortunately, the early US settlers used smallpox as a weapon against the Native Americans ... they gave them blankets that were known (to the settlers, but not to the unsuspecting indians) to have been used by small...

Re: Please Remember

Last year I heard a guest/author on Public Radio and checked out his book at the library: Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond. I think either in his comments on air or in the book he mentions the smallpox/blanket story. Anyway it is a good book. Also there is an excellent video series called 500...

Communists! Well I guess a good bogeyman never dies. Odd, I pulled into a church parking lot last Sunday and noticed a lot of anti-war bumper stickers. **** Communists must be hiding out at churchs these days. * * * * * International Day of Action To Stop the War Saturday, February 15th 2003 1-3 pm ...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

America often forgets that if not for the French, the United States would not exist. The comments on the difference between weapons of mass destruction and mass terrorism are indeed being overlooked by Bush who just fudges it all together. We could declare war on a new country every week and not ins...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

The Bush administration is still riding the tide of emotionalism of 9/11. I have yet to see any convincing factual data from any credible source to support a position for a war with Iraq, unless you cite the economic benefits of promoting the arms dealers and military industrial complex. And of cour...

Holiday lighting has come under more budget scrutiny this year, not just in Tomahawk. Takes money to buy, time to put up and take down and more electric costs to run.

Mr. Kottah Still Missed

The forum has settled into complacency and stagnation except for a little debate between Bob and JFlosum. Certainly someone out there must be climbing Mt. Everest or involved in some secret plot to take over the world (I said secret, not the obvious one Bush and the corporations are running). I woul...

Re: Is testing car-killed deer for CWD too obvious?

Testing road kill was discussed by the people doing the testing. They said it is possible in some cases. There is the problem for example of transporting a deer carcass to the tester or vice versa whereas they are set up to test in areas of the controlled kill. The other problem cited was that many ...

Re: Church can restore faith shaken by priest sex scandal

I concur with Nell's assessment. It always amazes me when people think that if their children are taught by a homosexual teacher that their children will be in great danger of molestation moreso than if taught by a heterosexual.
[ May 19, 2002: Message edited by: Zeus ]

Re: Church can restore faith shaken by priest sex scandal

Rod says, "Blanard and Zeus, are you saying that no sexually active person, homo or heteralsexual, has ever molested a child?"

Rod, on what basis would you make this assumption? Or has conclusion-jumping become the hallmark of the Leader Forum?

Re: Church can restore faith shaken by priest sex scandal

One of the tenets of the church was that sex should be suppressed because it is human nature and we should aspire to a higher god-like nature. At least that was the story for the flock. It's all crap of course. Over the last two thousand years the catholic church has done more harm than good and try...

Re: State budget plan starting to hit home

The latest news is that all legislators have caved in to looting the Tobacco money and because the state is looting one-time sources our credit rating as a state has dropped. Rumors are floating that an era of "user fees", wheel taxes, etc. will prevent "raising taxes."

Re: State budget plan starting to hit home

For a guy allegedly running for the office of governor, he sure seems intent on alienating a great number of people. First the proposal to cut shared revenues while sparing that of those he thinks can give him the most political support. Then he pokes a stick in the eye of moralists by swearing in p...
