Re: Must be credence to cougar claims

Catfish, I think I saw the story in the Spooner on-line news. The man was a logger who claimed to have been stalked by a wolf pack while he was timber cruising. From what I remember reading, he thought he was "wolf bait" as the pack got very close to him, but he was able to safely get back...

Re: Abstinence Education in Tomahawk

Deb, Were you here back in the days of the mega-volt transmission line posts? If so, do you remember "Raptor"? The rants died when there was no response to his/her random posts trying to support the power companies or agitate the posters who opposed the transmission line. <small>[ February...

If these are the signs of the end of the world, please LMK! I'll quit paying my bills, buy a mustang convertible, & drive my family to Alaska for a repeat vacation with an even more loose timetable than the last time we went there!

Re: Attention attracted by gymnast's request puzzling

No, I didn't watch gymnastics during the summer olympics. I don't watch any olympic sport where the outcome is based solely on the whims of a judges' panel. (Too frustrating.) But you're right about Hamm. With all the press coverage on him, I should have remembered that he did his high school thing ...

Re: Attention attracted by gymnast's request puzzling

With all the cost cutting measures that our schools must endure, I could see having a united men's & women's gymnastic team. If Point doesn't offer men's gymnastics at this time, then let him compete with the woman's team. Does any Wi school offer men's gymnastics anymore?? Women's hockey?? Jeff

Re: NEW YEARS WISH

How about a wish for better scrubbers on coal fired generators in Southern WI? That would mean that there is less acid rain in the area. (Less acid rain = lower mercury releases in northern lakes and less consumption advisories for the local fish population.) <small>[ December 27, 2004, 11:43 PM: Me...

Kerry,
A belated welcome to Appleton!

Main Post:
In keeping with the topic I've started here, please give generously to the Salvation Army.

Since this thread has degenerated to tangent trivia: Keep fabric durability in mind if you donate clothes to S.A., Saint Vinnie's or Goodwill.

Salvation Army Bell Ringers

In another thread one of the members of this board mentioned that maybe the bell ringing was too loud at the Salvation Army stations. Yeah the bells can be a little loud or shrill. What my son & I have done when we do a time slot is use a belt of sleigh bells. Much more melodious to the ears &am...

Re: DEER HUNT TRAGEDY

None of the stories make sense right now. The reports I've read (Milwaukee JS, Appleton Post Crescent, Chicago Tribune, Spooner Online, CNN) all have had different scenarios. JS Online even reports that there are similarities to an unsolved shooting during the 2001 deer season ~ 80 miles from this s...

What ever. My biggest point of confusion lies with the "pro-lifers" that find no conflict in opposing abortion, but supporting the death penalty.

Fushia, The natives know that Colorama weekend is a weekend to avoid town. I'm sure that groceries, prescriptions, general errands are done well before the Thursday of start of the event. The presence of 40,000 participants is a financial windfall for a town that relies on Harley, a paper mill, &...

Re: Possible Postponed Elections?

If you want to truly learn the opinions/positions of other board members, then state YOUR position & wait for a response. You did a "fushia" when you post a rumor, present it as fact that you want to poll, never state your position, then back-pedal when folks call you out. "It doe...

As long as Congress has it's own retirement and health insurance plans, don't expect Social Security & Medicare to be fixed. Put them on the same plans as we live with & watch what would happen.

Re: McKenzie vs GB Packers

Back to the original topic. I hope that the Packers would have the guts to let McKenzie retire. He signed a contract, he wasn't coerced. He should honor the deal he was happy to sign. The way the system works there are a few players who will make more over a contract who are not as skilled. Their co...
