Re: 4th of July parade (again)

Sure would love to add my 2 cents worth, however last year after expressing my opinion here excessively during a visit to Tomahawk I literally came face to fact with the "bum". (Old Scout's word not mine.) Not sure what was mumbled under his breath, by the look on his face it wasn't nice. ...

Re: Bridge

FYI prevailing for a flagman on a job like the bridge is more like $25-30/hour. The contractor that did that job would have figured that in as part of the original bid.

Re: Bridge

As far as contractors getting paid upon completion that is true, however my husband has been the contractor waiting for the "back-end" on state jobs and waited and waited. Anyone that has worked with the state knows that final payment is slow in coming. Just an FYI.

Re: Bridge

The bridge may have been passable, but had it passed a final inspection? I believe that would need to happen before it's considered safe for daily traffic.

Re: Where is everybody?

Hey Catfish, how were those bluegill? When living in the Tomahawk my hubby would put in at Bradley Park circle toward Sara Park for the bluegill. Sure do miss all that. Someday soon I hope. This past week we were at a favorite retreat in Ashland county that my family frequented for many summers. My ...

Ice Fishing There were two good ol' boys from the South, who love to fish, and they wanted to do some ice fishing. They'd heard about it up in Wisconsin, so they took off up there. The lake was frozen nicely. They stopped just before they got to the lake at a little bait shop and got all their tackl...

Weighty Situation A man was showing his friend the new set of matched golf clubs he had just purchased. "What a great set of clubs." remarked his friend. "You must have spent top dollar for them?" "Sure did, but it was doctor's orders," the man told his friend. "Wh...

Although I know the deed needed to be done, I'm not as over joyed as the crowds in Time Square and DC on the take down of bin Laden. Does anyone else feel the same a sense of apprehension as I do? Could there be retaliation in much bigger proportion that 9/11?

Re: Amertican Legion Opposes latest Walker power grab

I am far from bigoted Old Scout. It's a matter of principle. I have no problems with religious beliefs. I have a problem with those that hide behind that as reason not to serve their country. Which is exactly the reason in this case. It has nothing to do with strong religious convictions. Like I sai...

Re: Amertican Legion Opposes latest Walker power grab

Yes, the Legion can support who they want. I guess if I had served I wouldn't be happy with my Legion using a contractor that has not served nor will never serve due to religious beliefs. I have a problem with a contractor that is willing to make a days wages off the people that have fought for thei...

Personally I have lost respect for the American Legion. The post in Wausau has hired non serving contractors to replace the roof on their property.

Great Advice to Pass on to Your Daughters 1. Don't imagine you can change a man - unless he's in diapers. 2. What do you do if your boyfriend walks-out? You shut the door. 3. If they put a man on the moon - they should be able to put them all up there. 4. Never let your man's mind wander - it's too ...

Re: Gas Prices Redux

Old Scout, don't even get me going on the 'exhaust' left behind by the Amish. In the village of Augusta they need to have bags on the behinds of their horses or get fined. Many country roads here have much 'exhaust' left behind. If they park a buggy in a public parking area why can't they shovel up ...

Re: School District Budget

When it comes to kids not be able to make change I think is due to be taught how to do it in elementary school and then not needing to actually use the skill until teen years. Maybe it needs to be re-enforced again in middle school as well as high school. Just a thought.
