Re: Abstinence Education in Tomahawk

Haley, have you in fact heard Ms. Stenzel speak? Is her message the same to public school students as those in a parochial school? I've not heard her but would like to know what her message will be to the students at THS.

Re: Attention attracted by gymnast's request puzzling

baby, the schools that run both genders, JV, Frosh, Varsity track on the same night do so for economics. What the **** does that have to do with a guy being allowed to compete on a girls gymnastics team. It doesn't even count as a co-ed sport. It's about busing kids to a single destination and doubli...

Re: Attention attracted by gymnast's request puzzling

Kerry, guess I wasn't very clear. Me thinks it doesn't matter if a dorm is co-ed or not, co-ed activities will go on regardless. I think you get my drift.

Re: Attention attracted by gymnast's request puzzling

A combined effort for most schools could be a good economic solution. I'm not sure I agree that in a sport such as gynmnastics a boy should be allowed to compete with the girls. The bigger, stronger, faster thing that boys of this age have could give them an unfair advantage. However, there are exce...

Re: Parental Snooping Illegal???

jonellephil, hmm if you are 15 and talking on a phone in a house owned and paid for by your parents, blood or foster, I do think that they have every right to listen in on conversations, especially if something in that coversation could be leading to something that could harm someone only 15. That's...

Re: Salvation Army Bell Ringers

I must admit that I shop somewhat at Wal-Mart, however I have gotten so I don't much like their super centers, the produce deptartment in each and everyone I've shopped at smells of rotten produce. The Wal-Mart in Eau Claire is an absolute pigs sty. The new Super Center opening in Chippewa Falls is ...

Re: Salvation Army Bell Ringers

Yes, Nell, I know that in the past Target has allowed the bell rings, however this year it is company policy not to do this or any other type of solicitation, due in part to the risk of a lawsuit. They do donate very generously to the Salvation Army among other charities. From what I've been told wh...

Re: Salvation Army Bell Ringers

Get your facts straight baby, Target donates big bucks to the Salvation Army, among other charities each and every year. They do not allow solicitation of any sort outside their stores. I can see why these companies do this. I can't imagine how over run these stores would be with requests, they need...

Re: venison feed

Isn't the venison feed about offering a thank you and welcome to the visitors that come to the northwoods each year for the hunt? I can understand how it is disappointing to lose a perk. Yet, let's remember this isn't about feeding the workers of Tomahawk, it's about returning a favor. Hunters spend...

Re: School Lunch

I think most of us have used food in some form as a reward. "Be a good boy while shopping and we will stop at McDonald's for lunch." I guess this may be more about the expierence than the food. In my kids day it was the toy in the Happy Meal, now it's the play yard. Is the reward really ab...

Re: Cell phone service - quality/company feedback

Alltel is so so in the Tomahawk area. While still living there my husband had Alltel (still does), with an Eau Claire exchange. He did a lot of business on the phone, early mornings and evenings were the best. Travel toward Rhinelander with an Alltel phone, any phone for that matter and service is m...

Why thank you Fushia, for once we agree!

As far as Bush being more of a Flip,Flop than Kerry, well that could be true, however it seems that is part of being a politician and a weatherman. Let's see partly sunny, no partly cloudy.

Re: Hey Bush Bashers!!

Give me a break, the "bird" incident goes back to Bush's days as govenor. Not necessarily appropriate, however to me it shows someone that is not all caught up in "title" and can be little bit playful and a regular guy. Is that so bad? If the tables had been turned and it had bee...

Re: School Lunch

I don't see the issue as using food as a punishment. The child is still being allowed to have lunch. There seems to be too much coddling of children when it comes to disipline. Don't say the word "No" because junior won't feel good about himself. Kids, at a far too young age, are allowed t...

Re: Who reads the propaganda political mailings?!?!?

Flushable? You actually have that luxury Brian? Here in the Chippewa Valley it's required to pump every three years, if it's needed or not. Somehow I think during an election year it's more necessary than not. Two today, both for Kerry. Did I hear right Kerry had Bon Jovi "open" for him to...

jcg2, I applaud your political zealous and I accept your apology for your knee jerk reaction. If you must know I wasn't "protecting" Bush in any form, I just was saying I wouldn't base my vote on the opinions of the Europeans. That was all.

Who reads the propaganda political mailings?!?!?

How many political mailings did you receive in the mail today? Actually I didn't get any today, however yesterday I received 4. Three from the same candidate, two which were nearly identical. One for a local candidate. An election year certainly is a shot in the arm for the paper industry. <small>[ ...
