Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

I hate to admit it but I believe Abraham to be essentially correct. What Flosum has described is, for want of a better word, hedonism. Although that certainly exists in this world I don't believe that it is claimed by either liberals or conservatives and it certainly was not something that Kant woul...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

Bobbie (I had to address you that way for Nellie): If anyone around here is dancing it is most certainly you. Your efforts at deflection are certainly adept but you failed to make even an attempt at rebuttal given my previous case for a war mandate already being the staus quo. The plain fact is that...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

Bobby, Bobby, Bobby....I am absolutely certain that I gave you more credit than you deserve. I am surprized that even a flaming liberal like you cannot ascertain the status quo correctly. Let's see what it is. Under current law and our Constitution the United States Government decides, based on what...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

Bob: With your vast experience in debate as well as world politics I am surprized that you are surprized about conservatives normaly finding themselves fullfillng the role of the negative in classic debate. I hate to assert that this is only natural as I am sure that you, with your superior wisdom, ...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

BOB DOOLITTLE: Sorry if you took offense. As you say, we are all entitled to our opinions...even about each other. As you seem to have problems with comments on your personal style, I will refrain from them in the future altough I suggest you never get involved in an Oxford style debate as you will ...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

Marty...not intending to impune the veracity of what your grandfather may have told you, but his experience with mustard gas would have been in WWI not in WWII. There are no recorded cases of chemical weapons usage against Allied Forces in WWII by anyone. The Germans did use some chemical warfare ag...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

I normally would not reply to a post like Bob's because it comes from someone who does not read well and also exhibits flights of fancy. I will make an exception because the UN is an important subject. I have no problem with the UN and never did. The United Nations is important because it allows a c...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

There we were, having a nice discussion about the authoritarian liberal political and economic views of Abraham/Dagger and like a flash we are talking about Fallwell and Bush. This is the way liberals have discussions. If they are not making very good headway in the topic under discussion, they simp...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

Bob is right about one thing. Sadam Hussein is no Hitler, and that is a fact. Hitler, although he was a WWI veteran and well versed in the use of chemical agents, chose never to use them on the battlefield throughout WWII. This in spite of the fact that he lost everything and also that his country h...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

Dagger/Abraham once again shows he is a true authoritarian liberal. He has made all the decisions that need to be made and his only lament is that there is not some way for him to impose his values on the rest of you. He is currently down on the federal government because it is controled by conserva...

Re: interest in this forum?

The organization I assume that Abraham is affiliated with (he has their URL as part of his last message) is a thing called "Not in Our Name" or NION. This organization is in turn a product of another one called "Women's International League for Peace and Freedom" or WILPF. If you...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

Abe may like to call himself a classic libertarian, but he is anything but. Classic libertarians in this country have been pure political and social anarchists for over a century. The platform of their political organization has always contained planks calling for such things as complete individual ...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

Abe....not to string this nonsense out any longer than it has to, but how much did you pay up front for that roller skate? Can you haul a load of firewood in it or pick up the entire soccer team and take them to the Pizza Hut? As to the import export issue, even if we cut our oil usage we would stil...

Re: Offer your input Feb. 3 at school finances forum

I agree with you concerning the general idea of school administration cuts but I think we must be very careful not to hamstring the system in the process. Good administrators can pay for themselves through improvments in operating procedures that result in real savings and economies. The mathematics...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

My biggest problem with war protests is that they are simply an expression of negativity at base level. The conduct of war is a proactive endeavor and I know exactly why I want to see it waged. All I have ever gotten out of anti-war protests (and I have seen quite a number of them over the past 40 y...

Re: interest in this forum?

Hussein has long been a supporter of terrorism. He along with a couple other renegades from the region were the main supporters of Carlos the Jackel back in the 80s, and not much has changed. The open payments by his government to the families of suicide bombers is simply the tip of the iceberg here...

Re: Offer your input Feb. 3 at school finances forum

I agree. The district administration building is a waste of space as it currently sits. The District Administrator belongs as close to the students and faculty as he can get, and I am sure that he would be the first to say so. I would, however, hate to see the building sold only to have the proceeds...

Re: Tobacco compliance rate a black eye for Tomahawk

Just one last comment on this issue from me and I will move on. The real issue here has nothing to do with whether you smoke or not; what you think about smoking; what kind of smoker you are; how considerate you are; and etc. The issue here is police department priorities and the application of avai...

Re: Tobacco compliance rate a black eye for Tomahawk

I find it very interesting that the police department should find the time to conduct such an extensive sting program in the city of Tomahawk. It must be quite convenient to score this kind of victory over fairly stationary shopkeepers when the drug dealers who are supplying our young people with do...

The "What's Great About Tomahawk" publication is a real boost for the entire community. I hope that the Leader will continue to publish it. Our Scout Troop continues to serve the community and tries to teach our young men that community service is the way to go. Three cheers for the Leader...

Re: Outside set of eyes

Although time probably was a major factor in choosing how to proceed, the board should still have taken a few extra minutes to interview all the available candidates for the consultant work. Not doing so shows that the board may have been predisposed in a certain direction. This also calls the resul...
