Re: Re-enacting old battles; need commercial logging

Another interesting yet typical Dagger response. Gene Francisco was for many years the Chief Forester for the State of Wisconsin. As such and as a result of his groundbreaking work in the field of forestry and conservation, Mr. Francisco has an outstanding reputation throughout the world. I always f...

Re: Kids on Main Street

I think that this probably represents a very disrespectful comment that no self respecting rutabaga should have to countenance. When I retired from the military back in 1997 I could have lived anywhere and did consider quite a number of places. My wife and I picked Tomahawk and have never thought tw...

Re: Quick Note and Thoughts

Kerry: I have mentioned this before, but will do so again. First, I can't understand why anyone would be a member here and not be a subscriber to the Leader. I don't always agree with the Leader on everything but it is almost always a good read and well worth the pittance that it costs. I think you ...

Re: Kids on Main Street

Not that I think this phenom takes on any great cosmic significance, but I do think that law enforcement and parents in Tomahawk should do something about it. I too have seen the large groups of young people on the main streets of Tomahawk halfway out into the street gesturing at each other and with...

Re: Please Remember

You will find the Buffalo Soldiers a prominent part of the history of the U. S. Cavalry both from an official as well as unofficial point of view. I have no idea what you are referring to in that regard and I doubt that you do either. You will not find any official reference or any other verified re...

Re: School budget crisis

Cut a board members "salary" in this school district and you would just about pay for the school libary's subscription to the Tomahawk Leader for the year. These are definitely volunteer positions here in the Northwoods. They may pay people somewhere else in the state but it must be in Mad...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

Brian: Interesting supposition. Of course Colin Powell could have had the Republican nomination for president himself if he had wanted it. His choice, long after the election, to serve as Secretary of State would have given him plenty of time to decide if President Bush was deficient or not. I would...

Re: School budget crisis

Not that it is particularly germaine at this point, but the predictions concerning declining enrollment have been available for many years. If nothing else, you must remember that from K-12 you have a 12 year cycle. You can look at what is coming in on one end and what is going out on the other and ...

Re: Please Remember

I knew Bob was full of buffalo chips on his assertion that the US Cavalry had used smallpox infected blankets. It is valuable to see how the man's reasoning faculties work and note carefully the fact that he tried to use what is little more than an "urban legend" as an arguement and proof ...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

Sorry Bob, but in this matter we simply have a difference of opinion which each person must evaluate for himself/herself. You have a predictable tendency to label anything that disagrees with your opinions as nonsense. To one extent or other I suppose we all do this but I really think you do it more...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

Let's see....we have Bob Doolittle on the one side telling us that Colin Powell is full of utter nonsense. Both men make their arguements based on the logic of what they see, and they are both looking at the same thing. Which one has more credibility? This is really going to be a hard choice to make.

School District Budget

I attended a meeting of the Tomahawk School board this evening. The meeting was an open forum to get community input concerning ways for us to make up the budget shortfall that we are going to have in this school year. I don't know if any other forum members might have attended, but I would be inter...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

Unfortunately, there has been this little controversy raging over the last millenium or so about who the "true God" is. I am sure that you have heard about it. Everyone involved in this rhubarb is absolutely certain that they have the right answer and that the other guy is wrong. We stoppe...

Bob: I did not answer right away because it took me so long to get through your post and I only have a finite amount of time to devote to this. Just as an aside I would like to see the historical reference data on that stuff about smallpox infested blankets. I think I saw the movie you might have re...

Although I do not always agree with Larry's views I think that he has done an excellent job in this editorial of making the case for action, ...

Dopey: Although I don't agree with much of what you said I find your post significant. It is obvious that your feelings are from the heart and I respect your opinion. I too lament the movement to remove God from everything we are about in this country. We may not agree on many things but I share you...

Re: Please Remember

Bob you are already beginning to come around by concentrating on POTENTIAL threats. This is a very necessary first step in coming to grips with the new order of things. The American tradition of warfare has always involved us being dragged kicking and screaming into conflict. This must change if we ...

Not that it matters particularly but I am a soldier who fought in the Persian Gulf. I must admit that most of my experience with the subject of war is first hand (VietNam, Panama, Yugoslavia, Persian Gulf, Cold War, and a few other more minor engagements) so I am probably not as qualified as Bob Doo...

Tundra is absolutely correct. Mr. Doolittle appears to have little or nothing to offer except his own opinion in these matters. I would be happy to hear even that since I believe that all opinions have equal value except that he will not share it with us. He has already lost the battle of the "...

Re: Please Remember

For Bob's benefit I will try to be as elementary as possible about this although I suspect even that will not help. The current policy of this country has been quite adequately laid out in Congressional resolution, Presidential address, military actions, and a host of other media. That policy, quite...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

"In it nations work out their differences in councils and courts." This is not a realistic method of problem solving despite the fact that the far left brings up world government as a solution at every turn. In order for councils and courts to work they must have authority and sovereign na...

Tundra is certainly more correct than not on the issue of why we did not finish the job the first time. We had quite a dizzying number of operational agreements with various nations in the area during the Gulf War. Although the United Nations had no direct involvement in this process, it was these a...

I too have not listened to Rush in years. My position on the abortion issue is that government should keep its nose out of what should be a personal decision. Oddly enough, this will probably place me on the same sheet of music with Bob as I suspect this is his point of view as well, although I woul...
