Re: the passion of the christ

Love? By example then the ultimate expression of my love for my children would be to allow them to kill me? "Pay for our sins?" Pay whom? Why is payment even necessary? My beliefs? I'm not sure anyone is truly interested in my beliefs. Lets just say that I tried most of my life to "be...

Re: the passion of the christ

Against my better judgement, I'll go ahead and open this can o-worms.

"he died for our sins,"
This makes zero sense. "Jesus died on the cross because he loves us" makes even less sense. Why would an omnipotent being be concerned with our behavior in the first place?

Re: Report: 10,667 Children Reported Priest Abuse

Recipe for One Screwed Up Individual (or priest):

1) Forbid him from marrying.

2) Insist that he remain celibate.

3) Make sure he is a witness to every death in the congregation.

4) Provide plenty of alcohol.

5) Put him in charge of many little boys and girls.

Re: pioneer gay bishop --

I haven't heard anyone come out in favor of interspecies marriages... yet. Give em time. My .02: : I don't care if homosexuals get married. Why would anyone care? Could someone explain it to me? If two people (or eight) want to promise themselves to each other, WHO CARES? If tinman wants to marry hi...

Re: Super Bowl Half Time

I know rodeo rode this thread off track but I can't resist. rodeo - I would tend to disagree with your take on sport salaries. Sporting events have a huge audience much like the Hollywood movies. Like the movies and TV shows, people pay to see their favorite players on their favorite teams. Some of ...

Re: Super Bowl Half Time

t.I. - EVEN Janet knew that what she was doing was innapropriate. As out of touch with reality as she is, EVEN SHE KNEW that such a stunt was out of place at the super bowl. THATS WHY SHE DID IT. To suggest that parents are responsible and/or accountable if their children saw it is nonsense. The sup...

Re: Kerry and Jane Fonda connection

Kerry is a decorated veteran of the vietnam war. I seriously doubt if he was secretly hoping for a communist victory. That is the implication right? Since Kerry actually did risk his life to defend our country, my guess is that his service record would overshadow any association with that treasonous...

Re: Super Bowl Half Time

Dopey - I know this is a G-rated forum so I will try to be sensitive. Ahem. I've tried to undo a few bras in my time (just for scientific purposes mind you) and they don't come off that easily. Perhaps Justin hypnotized Janet into replacing her red bra with an ornate nipple ring prior to the show in...

Re: Martha Stewart

If she does go to prison Im certain her head will explode. Theres no way she could cope with that. This woman has managed to become filthy rich by capitalizing on her own anal-retentiveness. Im guessing that getting raped in prison on a regular basis is not her cup of tea. We are talking about a wom...

Re: Super Bowl Half Time

Do you think they should be fined, as being discussed, and held responsible for their actions? If it were your daughter, would you agree she should be held responsible for her actions and fined or barred form Grammy’s? (That too was talked bout but they decided against it but plan on going with a d...

Re: Super Bowl Half Time

Thanks Brian. For the record: I have never, nor will I ever encourage my daughters to disrobe in public for any reason. I will do my best to avoid any tacit or explicit approval of said activities. In addition, I do not approve of, nor will I encourage the commission of any illegal activities by my ...

Flosum -

Actually my original post says (and I haven't edited it):

I guess I would still be very proud and supportive of them.
We could quibble about the difference between "support" and "approval" but that would be very Clintonesque of us dont you think? :D

Re: Super Bowl Half Time

Deb - My posts don't contradict each other. NOWHERE in that quote does it say that I WANT my daughters to bear their breasts for money. I would hope that they would never do that. IF they did however I would still stand by them. My daughters are both in college BTW so that decision would be theirs. ...

Re: Super Bowl Half Time

Nell I agree 1000%. I thought it was wholly inappropriate. I certainly didn't mean any disrespect to women or men who suffer from cancer either. I wasn't offended or embarrassed by Janet's breast however. Just posting my opinion. I was recently on the beach at St Maarten where most of the women were...

Re: Super Bowl Half Time

Baby - I almost agree with you (I think). I believe that display was inappropriate for family television. When this sort of thing happens, it makes it tough for parents to select programs for their kids. I hope my daughters achieve the level of success that Janet Jackson has. If that involved showin...

Re: Super Bowl Half Time

Personally, I thought it was the most entertaining Superbowl halftime ever. Kid Rock was actually singing live (which I think is a first) and the Janet thing was over the top. I think by definition she wasn't technically nude due to the silver star shaped apparatus she had on covering her breast. Th...

Re: pioneer gay bishop --

Considering that the Catholics were literally sawing people in half for being gay just a few hundred years ago, I don't think you will see the Catholic church condoning gay marriages anytime soon.

Baby - In your church you "do" what?
