Dan,

See the topic "Best resorts in the area". There's a mention of a resort on Lake Alice.

Old Scout, I just spoke with your wife and she's anxious to speak with you about your 'smoke detector' comments.

I hope Dog 'N Suds is still in business because I have a feeling you're going to be eating out for awhile

Brnagn96...I don't live in Wisconsin but try to keep up-to-date with what's going on in Tomahawk via the Leader Message Board. For us out-of-towners would it be possible for you to give some background on Dr. Durkas, what his relationship is to Tomahawk, and what occurred with the accident, so I can...

But won't this new law create new jobs?

For example, The Smoke Detector Policeman!! Major qualification is that the new hire must enjoy sticking his nose in other people's business.

Re: The four Chaplains remembered

What a neat story. True heroes!!

There's got to be a special place in heaven for people like that who give up their own lives so others might live.

I wish that I would have one zillionth that amount of courage if the time ever came.

Re: Trusting Our New President

As long as we're quoting rock lyrics how about the Who in Won't Get Fooled Again. My all time favorite when it comes to putting too much trust in the government. "Then I'll get on my knees and pray We don't get fooled again Don't get fooled again No, no! (and it ends with…) Meet the new boss Sa...

Re: Town Hall Meeting on Smoking Band

Nell, I guess you haven't spent enough time in dive bars. A smoking band is a band that is really 'hot', or good. As in "man, the band at the No-Tell Motell lounge was smokin' last night". We still don't know really what a 'smoking ban' is, or should be, or if it's good, or if it's ...

Re: Tomahawk Tower

I only have vague memories of the Fulsher School through knowing kids who said they attended it. I also seem to recall seeing it a few times when I was in the area (these are unclear memories here). Was it the school on County O near where County E runs into it? The school sure seems to bring up som...

There are some great clips of Nick Hagar on youtube. Just Google 'nick hagar'. You can probably find some other neat stuff on Tomahawk there also.

Re: Trusting Our New President

I thought the same thing as I was watching the news conference. I don't know if what he says and what he's doing will work or not but he sure inspired confidence with what and how he responded. He didn't evade any of the questions, he answered them in some length and detail, and the answers sounded ...

Well, I guess we're back to the same-o same-o. No posts here for a couple of days. Kind of disappointing not to see new posts popping up. We had a very 'interesting' run. There were some intelligent and honest comments and opinions on the subject but mostly this was a study of human nature and how w...

Dr. Phil would shake his head in disbelief and tell us that we were the most dysfunctional bunch of wackos he's ever dealt with. And then he would 'go to commercial' and head running for the exit.

Re: So, anyone read any good books lately?

Another author I can recommend, not quite the easy reads of Connelly or Brown, but with more suspense and a slightly Twilight Zone feeling, is Dean Koontz. He has a load of books out...search for his best sellers for the best reading. They are somewhat 'twisted' but entertaining. You'll ei...

Darn right he opened a can of worms... Hugodog, for your information the Easter Bunny IS real. I know because I saw him myself when I was gathering Easter eggs with some like 'minded' friends back in the late 60s. Granted, we weren't able to reproduce that exact experience but the memories do flashb...

Re: So, anyone read any good books lately?

"Pressing Matters" is a great book with a neat story. Written by a guy who is definitely having occasional flashbacks. Some of his descriptive lines are great. I highly recommend it! I can't wait for his next book. Something I'm reading now..."Happy for No Reason", by Marci Shimo...

We had some discussions like this last fall under the topic "Protect Private Property Rights Of Business Owners In WI". I'm always very wary and concerned when the government passes any laws to 'protect us' from something. When and where should the line be drawn? That's a tough decision. C...

I've asked CarolAnn early on in this thread to help us understand her passion against the anti-smoking crusades that have been taking place for the last bunch of years. I haven't yet gotten any reasonable response back to that inquiry. T-Hawk Yooper may have stumbled onto something when he 'discover...

Years from now some Anthropologist, with a Psych minor, will discover this ''Town Hall Meeting on Smoking Band(sic)' thread and have a field day analyzing each and everyone of us.
