Re: Northwoods Humor

A Good Catholic Joke The Pope and Obama are on the same stage in Yankee Stadium in front of a huge crowd. The Pope leans towards Mr. Obama and said, "Do you know that with one little wave of my hand I can make every person in this crowd go wild with joy? This joy will not be a momentary display...

Catfish...."freak flag" !!!! How dare you  . Peace, bro !!!! Deb, good to hear from you...how's the heat in your area? Chippewa Falls area, right? If I was living in WI I'd be on the lake fishing...not checking the TLMB. Can't blame folks for keeping low. Drink beer...not Point beer...

Heat, what heat !!! How's everybody doing ???

I remember as a kid growing up in Tomahawk with the summer heat and humidity. When the heat came on for those weeks or three it was unbearable. Even as kids who didn't know any better we were drawn to the lake down where the old boathouses were at the entrance to Bradley Park as well as the waters a...

Re: Anyone remember Fritz and Kays? Is it still there?

I worked on the Lamer mink ranch for a few days in the winter of '62 or '63 cleaning out mink pens with my friend Richard Klimek, who worked there quite a bit in those years, while we were in high school. Cold, smelly, and dirty work but it gave us extra spending money...and we were young and tough ...

Happy Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July Everyone... Take a moment to think what today means and keep it in mind for the next couple of days. At the same time go out and safely enjoy the weekend with your friends and family. If I remember correctly Tomahawk always has lots of things going on during the Fourth...the par...

Re: A safer Wisconsin

Ouch, good point...something to think about. What about checking your guns in at the front door of the saloon like they did in the 'old' days?

I agree with the right to carry but I question the wisdom to do so.

Quite a conflict I know!!! :?

Re: A safer Wisconsin

The concealed permit may or may not be a good thing...but putting that aside...why would someone need to carry a concealed weapon in Tomahawk? I can see if you live in a rural area where you might come across a bear or wolf, but other than that why would you need to carry a weapon? Have you had the ...

I'm still around. Just busy dealing with spring cleaning...doing some work on the yard and deck...and work in general. Been watching the Board and also wondering where everybody was.

Good that you spoke up, Catfish. Maybe you'll stir up some action.

Re: Osama

Deb, I understand how you feel. Just because Osama is gone it doesn't mean 'the war on terrorism' is over...far from it. There will be retaliation...just like there would be more attacks by al-Qaida if he was alive. But I don't think we should not act because of fear of retaliation...then they would...

Happy Easter everybody...

I just wanted to say Happy Easter to my friends on the TLMB. I'm not a church goer or bible beater but I looked up what Easter meant and this is part of what I found...."it is His Resurrection that gives us the promise of new life, both in this world and the next". This sounds great to me ...

Yesterday was $4.15 at the local ARCO station and across the street at the Chevron it was $4.25. I tried the bonnet thing and was just laughed at...didn't make a difference how cute I looked...they just wanted my money.

Re: Deer Trail Lodge or Red Arrow Lodge

Old Scout.... Yeah, but every time I check the Message Board I see the Tomahawk temperature....right now it's 45 and cloudy...I don't know if I could handle it. The picture of all the snow in downtown last week scared the C*&p out of me. Showed it to a co-worker of mine and he didn't believe it....

Re: Deer Trail Lodge or Red Arrow Lodge

I vaguely recall the Deertrail Lodge on Highway 51 just before the turnoff to Heafford Junction. Went to a prom dinner there in ~'62. I think it did burn down sometime around that time...

The Red Arrow Lodge...just the name rings a bell. I always thought the name was neat. No info though.

That's for sure !!

But at least ABBOTT didn't tell COSTELLO to 'hit any key'. That would have taken them in circles they would never get out of. Run it over in your mind... it can be a never ending loop.
