Re: Gun Control Law Proposals

I feel it is the buyers responsibility to secure their firearms. I don't feel that the burden should be on the seller to purchase something for the person doing the buying. If they purchase the firearm it is their responsibility to make sure that is is stored safely in their home. While I agree, I ...

Re: Gun Control Law Proposals

That's a cleaver way to say you'd like to end all gun shows. Don't urinate on a stick and tell me it's a lollipop. "Resonable" and "well thought out" you say.........I say moronic. Really? Funny, it took about 5-10 minutes to run a background check last time and I was told that ...

Re: Gun Control Law Proposals

Oh, and by the way. If you buy a gun online it is already supposed to be transferred through an FFL so my process already exists (that's part of where the idea comes from). In reality, my suggestions only make it a requirement for all sales and create a stolen gun database (as an IT person I can tel...

Re: Gun Control Law Proposals

Mizriz, thanks for joining the conversation. A background check costs $13 (I have the receipt). As I said, there will be some expense from requiring a gun lock $4-5 and going through an FFL. Obviously these expenses and the waiting period weren't too much of a hassle for you when you purchased a gun...

Re: Gun Control Law Proposals

So how does requiring a background check restrict anyones rights (other than criminals)? And how does requiring a background check not reduce the ease for criminals to get a gun? And to be clear, I did mention that there would be fees. I also mentioned that I believe they would be minimal as a lock ...

Re: Gun Control Law Proposals

Tooten, So my question is, how does this restrict any of the rights gun owners already have? The goal of my suggestions is to help ensure guns stay out of the hands of criminals and that sales are on the up and up. Realistically, I think my suggestions simply offer a way to actually enforce the laws...

Gun Control Law Proposals

A list of reasonable, and thought out, gun control law proposals for discussion. 1. All guns sold, personal or private, must come with a cable, trigger or some other locking mechanism. This does not require that the lock be integral to the gun, which some states do require already. However, it does ...

It also doesn't help that our web traffic is traditionally lower around holidays (except the 4th of July, especially when we post pictures of the parade crowd). The Christmas to New Years stretch is generally our lowest web traffic days (and personally, I don't have a problem with the idea people mi...

Re: Bridger traps

Renee, Sorry, but technically, the dog owner is at fault unless the trap was on public land or placed illegally. Lincoln Co, like most other places, has laws that state a dog owner is not to allow their dog to run at large and there is a minimum $25 fine for doing so. As a dog owner, it's MY respons...

Re: Time to get our change back!

I think I found it in the permissions for that specific forum. Because that forum only allowed Tomahawk Leader employees to start topics the permissions were configured differently than other forums. I updated some of the settings to make them match up better. Let me know if that doesn't resolve the...

Not sure why it would have changed but I believe it is a per user setting that each of you can set in your "User Control Panel". Once in there, I think it's under "Board preferences" and "Edit posting defaults". Make sure "Enable BBCode by default" is Yes. I t...

You're absolutely right, and I fixed it now.

Also, the quoting appears to be because your message had, "Disable BBCode" checked. Once I unchecked that and saved the message it was appearing properly.

This one is long but provides a large number of statistics and a great deal of information that I think members of both parties would find interesting. And once again, sources are generally provided.

Re: Time to get our change back!

Someone else from Tomahawk did an excellent writeup on the reasons to vote for Obama and included a large number of sources (imagine that). Rather than have to rewrite all of it, I'd suggest people looking for good information go take a look. My Vote: Why I will vote for Barack Obama, Part One - For...

Re: Time to get our change back!

First, the CBO does not estimate that the Affordable Health Care Act will increase the deficit in ANY report I can find. In fact, they have REPEATEDLY stated that they estimate the law will REDUCE budget deficits. "They estimated that the law would, on net, reduce budget deficits." and &qu...

Sue, Hate to break it to you but you're letter is based on a significantly inaccurate interpretation of the constitution! Re: Charging $25 for a Letter to the Editor

It is only for letters that endorse a specific political candidate. The candidates have started writing letters and then getting someone to sign them and mail them in. They basically are trying to get free advertising in newspapers while spending all their money on TV.

Neup99, You obviously have NO idea how many businesses are helped by the Fall Ride which gives the impression you haven't actually been to the event or have any communication with actual business owners in the area. Many businesses in Tomahawk are barely getting by as it is right now. They haven't b...

Re: What happened to the Packer Defense

The parts of the game I saw the offense didn't look too great either. One obvious interception and almost another pick later. If you had taken away Cobb I'm not sure they would have moved the ball at all. Looks like they'll have a lot of work to do on both sides of the game...

And to be fair, Old Scout's post, which it appears he may have deleted or I'm just not seeing it, didn't say it was from an email or website, etc. For all anyone knew, he compiled as much o...

I'd love to see references! References show you fact checked and at least attempted to ensure the information was accurate. However, on a first read I haven't seen any facts stated in this one that I haven't already had to prove were false to others so that's at least a minor step in the right direc...

Quit trashing President Obama's accomplishments. He has done more than any other President before him. He has an impressive list of accomplishments: 1. First President to apply for college aid as a foreign student, then deny he was a foreigner. http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/birthers/occident...

Re: Tomahawk Grocery Stores

I seriously doubt anyone at Nelson's took the fliers out. Having helped stuff the newspapers years ago I can tell you what is more likely is that each store only provides certain numbers of fliers. In many cases that number doesn't cover all of the papers we stuff, mail and sell. When that happens, ...

Now let's begin to eliminate some other problems in our society. Let us begin with the homeless; require everyone to own a home or rent an apartment othewise face a penalty tax. I believe many communities will already pick people up for sleeping in certain areas. Sounds like a fine (tax) to me. Our...
