Re: Unions took a hit
River Rat, once again, stop trying to put words in my mouth or assuming you know anything about my views. Feel free to voice your own opinions on issues, but do not assume you have my permission to state mine! As for some of the other comments. I totally agree both parties (and just about everyone e...

Re: Unions took a hit
Wow, River Rat, it's amazing how well you know me. The fact that you know I automatically disagree with all Republicans is amazing! Some fun facts for you before you assume you know anything about me in the future. I lean conservative. I tend to vote republican more often than not. I voted for Walke...

Re: Unions took a hit
Larry, Walker also said (on video) that he would work with the unions to get the budget cuts needed just before the last election. That would be very shortly before explaining his "Divide and Conquer" plan to his largest supporter. Based on his track record, I'd say he's going to say what ...

Re: Unions took a hit
And as far as the "cost" of the recall election. It's estimated that the recall could cost as much as $17 million. Considering Walker has raised $14.9 million from out of state sources (about 60% of all of his funding and despite commercials criticizing "out of state influence")....

Re: Unions took a hit
We've all heard you make the argument many times that a recall should only be done when someone has done something illegal, the basis I'm sure for your argument above that we should, "Wait for the next general election if you don't like him." However, a little research shows the authors of...

Re: Unions took a hit
I'd bet a lot of the union members voted for Barrett as well. That's already been shown to be the case in Dane county. And I wouldn't be quite so quick to claim Walker isn't like his cohorts in Illinois. A number of people that worked in the same office as he did are already charged with felonies an...

Re: Campground in Bradley Park?
Old Scout, I think one of the things that has been really hurting Tomahawk businesses is that so many of the campgrounds and resorts have closed. Not because they aren't making money, but because it's more profitable to sell of the land in individual chunks than as a whole. That's basically what hap...

If Walker was certain enough we wouldn't have Health Insurance Exchanges to turn away federal money to set it up why did he just sign a bill that makes it illegal for abortions to be covered by policies in said exchanges??? http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/local/govt-and-politics/walker-signs-slew-o...

Re: Gannett newspapers jounalists repremanded
We don't need to monitor spending of stolen union dues. The Wisconsin public employee never had it, never decided what to do with it, and they don't have it when they're at County Market. They don't have a choice. As I pointed out in the last message... Your line of thought means I should be able t...

Re: Gannett newspapers jounalists repremanded
I believe in empowering the public employee by giving them a choice, by making the money theirs. And once again, the employees control the union. They have rights within the union. It's an awful lot like how our government works. There are some people who don't want it and don't believe in taxes, e...

Re: Gannett newspapers jounalists repremanded
And once again. Not 1¢ of that money is yours. Again, the moment you (or your elected representatives) hired those people to work, and they earned the money, it became theirs. It is extremely OFFENSIVE to say otherwise. Again, based on your reasoning, YOUR employer should be able to control how you ...

Re: Gannett newspapers jounalists repremanded
Who wants to meet me at County Market and follow around any public employees, military personnel, etc.. and make sure they're spending our money the way we want them to? Maybe we can get Scotty to bring his bat too. Don't forget all the people on welfare and social security . After all, that's &quo...

Re: Gannett newspapers jounalists repremanded
Tooten, Were you there? Did you actually come see the protests or did you just watch them on the news? Yes, there probably were a few people there that didn't behave well. I'd challenge you to get 10's of thousands of people anywhere and not have a couple troublemakers. However, and this is a BIG ho...

Re: Gannett newspapers jounalists repremanded
Also, if they were just trying to make personal cases there would be a lot more coverage over the kid that got shot in Wisconsin. It's another unfortunate case, and realistically, one that no one should have been shot. An underage adult ran from a party that be was being broken up by the police. He ...

Re: Gannett newspapers jounalists repremanded
Tooten, I try to keep an open mind but it really isn't looking good for the neighborhood watch shooter. Two independent experts released today that the person screaming on the 911 calls was not the shooter. They don't have an audio recording to compare if it was Martin, but they said they can be rel...

Re: Gannett newspapers jounalists repremanded
From what I've seen most modern web browsers either already have, or are adding built in spell checkers, nullifying the need for one running on our servers for the message boards. The only major browser I know of that doesn't already offer this is Internet Explorer, and even that has free plugins th...

Re: Gannett newspapers jounalists repremanded
River Rat, I used to work for Gannett (although never as a journalist). First, none of the journalists that signed the petition report on political news and or have any influence on the reporting. Second, I personally have a major issue with Gannett's decision. It's not considered a violation of jou...

Re: Let's look at reforms...
So you're telling me that I won't receive a piece of a pie that we already know will be eaten long before I get to the table? How is this reforming anything? Also, do you plan to adjust the social security witholdings to reflect these changes so that people are not being taxed for something that it...

Neup99, Both stores I worked at would have argued forever with a customer that wanted to use food stamps for that. Unfortunately, welfare and child support checks are cash and can be used for anything. It was just poor decision making on those people's part. I wish I knew a good way to fix the check...

Re: $cott Walkers balanced budget
The quote you gave chooses to ignore that the state isn't required to follow the same accounting rules that every public company, local government and school board is required to follow. It also ignores that Walker promised not to use that accounting method and attacked his predecessor for using it....

Re: Recalls........a bad deal
Maybe, just maybe we'll eventually get a few people in office that know what the words communication and compromise are. Once those two things return, hopefully they'll be joined by a couple more, civility and decency. I think once those four words are back in our vocabulary you'll have a much harde...

Re: $cott Walkers balanced budget
Don't play the, "I'll take the single quote that makes my side look good" game. It doesn't end well. I posted the whole link so people could see the full information on the issue. Since you want to play the quoting game, here's mine. In the 2010 race, Walker made an explicit promise, noted...
