Re: Terror Supplies?

the day he was appointed to office. Um, I hate to have to break it to you but he was ELECTED according to some paper called something like Constitution of the United States. Apparently from what I was taught in school that thing is pretty important and kind of the basis of everything in our country...

Re: School budget crisis

On a side note: Many of the out-of-school activities are in some way partially or completely paid for by the students. I remember paying for some activities and other being covered by fundraiser money. Also, I would hope people are looking into what they say before they suggest it. I heard a suggest...

Re: Please Remember

Bob, You seemed kind of hung up on the fact that Iraq hasn't done anything in 12 years and that it is the only country that we enforce no-fly zones. It seems to me that as part of the ending of the war in Iraq it was made pretty clear that Iraq had to give up ALL of its weapons of mass destruction. ...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

Bob,

I saw a small reply in another forum but I was kind of hoping to see a layed out response to my thoughts. Please explain exactly why you believe otherwise and maybe we can lead into an actual debate rather than useless bickering back and forth that this is turning into.

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

Bob, I thought I had made the case pretty clearly. I guess I can try to set it out even more clearly. 1. Iraq has used its weapons of mass destruction (chemical weapons) on more than one occasion. N. Korea has not used weapons of mass destruction. 2. Iraq has attacked its neighbors on numerous occas...

Re: Favorite Things!

I had to leave after graduation but am now considering the possibility of moving back to Tomahawk or somewhere like it some day. Heck, I moved to a city with nearly 40,000 people and have had a hard time meeting anyone outside of work. I went back to Tomahawk for the weekend and had a discussion wit...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

Bob, You just made the case for both a possible attack against Iraq and for using diplomacy in N. Korea. "which admits having nuclear weapons, refuses inspections, is in violation of numerous U.N. resolutions and an agreement signed with the United State, posseses and has successfully tested in...

Re: Anti-War Protests - regular schedule

Side note, I'm getting sick of all the people complaining about the gas guzzling vehicles. First, some people do have reasons for driving those vehicles, work or maybe even just living on truely bad roads in a Wisconsin winter??? Second, somewhere I saw a mention that we should just buy all our oil ...

Re: Tobacco compliance rate a black eye for Tomahawk

Short side note: You might want to change the s in Ms to an r in Mr. Thanks. Back to subject: I think the city of Tomahawk has many problems and I don't believe the sale of any illegal product should be overlooked. If you are a business selling cigs to minors you are committing just as many (probabl...

Re: Tobacco compliance rate a black eye for Tomahawk

I'm impressed! We finally found a considerate smoker. Unfortunately many of my friends in college smoked. I had to make specific rules (that I was not friendly about enforcing) on throwing things out of my car. I’m also so sick of seeing butts everywhere, including flying out of cars, that I wish th...

Re: Tobacco compliance rate a black eye for Tomahawk

I think for the two hours or so it would take to drive a kid around to the different stores and see if they sell we probably didn't lose much protection to the city. Also, laws strictly require that anyone under of 27 or 28 MUST be carded every time for both alcohol and cigarettes. The same business...

I understand budget concerns but it isn't just this year. The lights have been sliding each year after the first few.

This year is pretty much just pitiful.

Holiday Spirit???

Does anyone else remember how incredible Tomahawk looked with all the Christmas lights on? Turning the lights on was a major event downtown, news channels even came for the lights and people. What happened? I've returned to Tomahawk for the weekend and the street lights are the nicest looking things...

Re: Bradley Park Observation Tower

I believe camping is not the city's choice. I think there are regulations as to what facilities must be available to allow camping.
I also mentioned the tower to my father. Apparently, he tried to get that started not too long after we moved to Tomahawk. He also wanted to put up small information ...

Re: Pow Wow Days

I'd rather have the police on the street than in the parade.
We actually commented that it was nice the that parade was quieter this year than in the past. It used to be that all we had were sirens and machines. I don't mind some sirens, they can be nice to hear too but not as much as we had in th...

OK, here is the idea. I want to know when you think we will finally get enough snow to open snowmobile trails with decent conditions.
I'm guessing by Jan 20 or so we will have had one good storm to do the trick.
Your guess?

No Deb. I'd put you and most of the other users of the boards at a pretty good level. Probably the same people that would try to carry one on a snowmobile, not to mention drink it while driving, in gloves, through a helmet. :-)
Just say I would guess it to be some stupid teens drinking in the park where there aren't cops before I would say a snowmobile would stop there just to drin...

Re: Bradley Park Observation Tower

Couple more things to add in response. Snowmobiles can be much more quiet. Many of the truely loud sleds are altered to make faster, more powerful, and louder, just like many cars.
Second, there are new sleds on the way that are 4-stroke so they are much more quiet and efficient.
Not to be mean D...

Re: Bradley Park Observation Tower

Here is my concern with closing the park to snowmobiles. You would require them to drive over more ice in an area that I don't think is that solid anyway. Hasn't one person died on the ice in that area already years back? Also, how many have snowmobiled through the bay near the park. All the ice fis...
