Re: Tomahawk High School

First of all, as a teacher and state employee, I know I'm biased. I'm also hurt, angry, and discouraged. The amount of teacher-trashing on this boards and other boards across the state truly saddens me. I am a good teacher, and I love my profession. I have the most wonderful profession (not "jo...

Re: State Budget, State Workers

I'm not sure if posting links to websites would be considering plagiarism... It's an easy way of directing people to sources of information, that's for sure, and when citing facts it's important to show where they come from.

Re: State Budget, State Workers

Tooten- I am offended. Never worked a full-time job??? Sold dope for spending money -what are you talking about? I am a teacher. I am a PROFESSIONAL. I teach, care for, and love my students. I work hard and put in many more than 40 hours per week. Again, I am offended. Unions aside - You go ahead an...

Re: State Budget, State Workers

For someone who was there in Madison, asserting her first amendment rights, it makes me irate that our governor would consider "planting troublemakers." It was a wonderful day with no violence at all. This call proves that this man is not fit to govern our wonderful state. Even if it's not...

Re: State Budget, State Workers

I do need to make an apology. Apparently an earlier version of the bill was being passed around and that is what I cited. It was an early version of the actual bill, however. It was not propaganda. I did not realize it was not the bill that is currently "on the table." Some things I cited ...

Re: State Budget, State Workers

This is directly from the bill - start reading and starting getting scared as ****! *On a personal note, it looks like by the year 2013 I, as a teacher, will be contributing just under half of my present take-home pay to my pension. It will required, not voluntary. • Allows the State to take out an ...

Re: State Budget, State Workers

One correction - while in Madison it was a Democratic REPRESENTATIVE speaking to the man in the wheelchair. There wasn't one Democratic Senator in sight!

Re: State Budget, State Workers

Old Scout - I teach in a district that's a bit smaller than Tomahawk, but TOP of our pay scale - that's with a masters degree, additional credits, and the maximum years experience they'll grant you - is approximately $56,000/year. Keep in mind, that's the very top - the only people who earn more are...

Re: State Budget, State Workers

I know as a teacher I am very biased on this issue. I’m also the daughter of a paper mill worker who was a union member his entire time at “the mill.” Here are just a few links that range from interesting to downright scary! http://www.epi.org/economic_snapshots/entry/wisconsin_public_servants_alrea...

Re: State Budget, State Workers

I couldn't resist - I received this from a teacher friend. I'm coming to believe that I'm quite a bargain!!! Tooten - please take particular note. Maybe you believe I'm just a glorified babysitter? If so, you'll love this article! Teachers make too much money! by Sarasota Values Education on Friday,...

Re: State Budget, State Workers

Tooten, I take issue with some of your comments: “WTF is Nicolet College Instructor Kevin Brown writing about? Making him pay into his own pension and health care doesn't take a nickel out of the local economy. It actually saves the taxpayer money. They, the taxpayer, will have more money to spend a...

Re: Brett Favre

It's sad - plain and simple. My son grew up knowing only one quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. My daughter, by the age of two, knew who Brett Favre was. In my eyes, there was never a player who was more fun to watch. He had the opportunity to "go out on top" when he retired from the P...

Re: Pow Wow Days

Okay, when I first read that Mrs. Martens was running for Pow Wow Queen I thought it was terrific. When I saw her crowned at the ski show, I still thought it was terrific. However, I did hear (from a reliable source  ) that she bought hundreds of dollars of her own tickets. If that's the case,...
