Re: $cott Walkers balanced budget

What you've said makes some sense, only some. If we do as you suggest, and as a society decide to spend taxpayer money to improve the housing market that's fine. We can do it in many and better ways than giving a bail-out to those who have defaulted on a loan they could never repay. We can address t...

Re: $cott Walkers balanced budget

Walker has told us all he balanced the budget. He took the money from the poor and middle class, but he did say he balanced the budget. Let me just make sure I understand things correctly... A bunch of Wisconsin citizens of all income levels bought homes that they could not afford and financed them...

Re: Strip rights, then clothes

Dear media, Have you followed-up with the Ron Mcallister/Lincoln Hills incident? Have you contacted the DOC to see if they will provide a statment re: the issue? Have you determined if their internal investigation has concluded and what actions they have taken as a result? Now that all the hub-bub ...

Re: Strip rights, then clothes

If you read the table 3 you'll see unemployment rate drop from 7.7 to 7.1 for the state of wisconsin for the period oct '11-dec'11. Wisconsin has a LOWER unemployment rate than the US @ 8.5%. You'll also see, for the same period, WI total net jobs drop from 3,057,000 to 3,054,200. A job loss of 2,80...

Re: Strip rights, then clothes

As far as child molesters and drug dealers go, all I am saying is that the logic you are using to defend Walker (i.e. he was tricked into it, so he didn't mean it, and everything is OK) was allowed by our legal system as a proper defense, then there would be a lot more criminals on the street becau...

Re: Strip rights, then clothes

All of my comments have remained germane to the topic being discussed. There's no way in haties I'm going into child molesters and drug dealers. I think that's way off topic of what's being discussed here. I find the anology more than a little disturbing to tell ya the truth. A simple, remedial goog...

I find it disturbing that using the telephone to con and scam someone under false pretenses would be an act condoned by anybody. Ummmm, errr........... I think these quotes from McAllister on the day of the protest sum-up the mental capacity of one side of this epic battle of bufoons: "I went to unbutton my pants and I told them I had AFSCME underwear on and would they want them, too," McAllister said. McAllister said he went home "s...

Re: Strip rights, then clothes

A dress code, Uh? Is this what this is all about, a dress code, LOL. Sounds to me like both of these people (Mcallister and his unnamed supervisor) are quite petty. First off if come to work with your union name on your underwear you offically qualify for "freek" status. Secondly, if you m...

Re: Living the dream

How do you access Grandmother dam from 107? Is there a path or something?

I've never fished that side of the river at the dam. I've seen the huge exposed boulders there. Do you fish close to the dam in the calm water or do you walk/wade down a bit to get into the faster moving water?

River Rat - it's called freedom of speech. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean someone can't buy advertising space and use it to say what they want. This isn't the case, but I could just as easily say I do not want any pro-gun groups advertising on the Leader. Oh I understand, and I'm in fa...

Re: Where is everybody?

Maybe everybody left because the Leader is running an anti second amendment constitutional right advertisement. Why would a paper allow that propaganda on the front page if its web-site? Especially a paper rooted in Wisconsin's north-woods. This will sure get a discussion going at our hunting camp. ...

Storm last night (sunday April 10 - Monday April 11th)

I saw the reports on the national news about the storm damage in Merrill. I also saw on the Leader that there is reported damage on Hwy. 107 from Merrill to the Tomahawk city limits. Can anyone tell me how close the storm got to tomahawk and how far north there is visable damage on hwy 107? Thanks!!
