Homecoming vs graduation

my daughter graduated in May of this year - the seniors were told that riding in the back of vehicle was forbidden this year ( which was always a tradition) therefore it was not done. However, watching the Homecoming parade this year & after school was out for the day, many (ALLOT of) students w...

Re: Time for a new Judge

this is not about "he who is without sin" He committed a crime & was sentenced - he needs to serve that punishment - no matter how good he is at a sport. He has had many "second" chances in his careeer, when is he going to learn from his mistakes?

Re: Theft at fallen soldier's memorial benefit

No, they should not stop looking for the guilty party. The pay back was to help the family, not penalize the memory of their son. The banner is a family momento & yes, the guilty party/parties should still be sought for the crime happening in the first place.

Re: Time for a new Judge

I too believe in second chances, but not third, fourth, fifth, without a lesson being taught. If you break the law, you should be punished for it & live with the consequences. This is about LEARNING to better yourself, not being given the chance without paying for what you did wrong. I think the...

Re: Theft at fallen soldier's memorial benefit

It was on the news that an unidentified Wausau subject has put up the amount of the missing funds - that is outstanding. It is a shame that it happened in the first place.

Re: Time for a new Judge

this is yet one more example of the "high " quality of law in Lincoln County. How about the person that was caught at the site of the burglary of Mr Ed's & they let him walk out of jail on a signature bond! That is totally idiotic! Yes, I know all the about the jail crowding, the innoc...

Re: Commendable efforts

this may be true in town, but I've been told that Nokomis Park was a mess yet on Weds of this week. The ball fields were trashed - big holes in them. Was the move to Nokomis a good move (economically) for the city of Tomahawk? I know it helped with crowd control & traffic, but now is the "c...

as far as the baby cougar being hit.....why was this NEVER public? (if it is true) & if you knopw who hhit it???? sounds VERY fishy to me. That would have proved without a doubt of existance .....how convenient to not report it.

Re: Shop in Tomahawk ???????

I agree with Kerry. As for myself, I dod about 95% of my shopping here at home. There is really not anything (too much) that can't be bought here. We need our community to support OUR community. As far as gas prices, they are right down there where all the surrounding towns are - within cents. I'm s...

Re: Useful but have their place

I believe cell phones are a useful tool, when used as that - a tool for emergency contact when needed. Nothing more annoying (and rude) then eating out, shopping in a store, or sitting in a music concert for your children, and someone has the cell phone ringing. Be courteous to others & the perf...

Re: 4 Year Old Kindergarten

best thing to do is call the Tomahawk Elementary school to find out the correct answers to your questions. They will be able to explain everything better to you. They do have people in the office during these months - 453-2126. There is also a headstart program in town 453 - 1008, maybe they can ste...

Re: Take time to stop …

I have also noticed cars going around stopped vehicles instead of waiting for people to cross (on 4th street) how much of an inconvenience is it to stop for a minute & let people cross?? Granted, there are a few individuals that think they can cross ANYWHERE on the street (not in cross walks) &a...

Re: Time to put our foot down on secondhand smoke

That is the bottom line Nell.........smoking should not be allowed in public-PERIOD!! It is definitely a universal health issue. Involves everyone in it's path - co-workers, people in the same enviroment, young children, etc.. it just goes to show that it is a negative factor all around.

Re: Proposed work place smoking ban in Rhinelander

Dave, are you actually implying that a smoking ban is not an issue? One attempt to make it more public, does not prove a thing. It was actually not well publicized in the first place. Whether you agree or disagree a smoking ban, of some sort will happen. It is just a matter of time. Unfortunately, i...

Re: Proposed work place smoking ban in Rhinelander

Nugget, I sympathize with your situation & no it is not fair that a person who chose to not smoke is gone because of inconsiderate people. I just think is is very unhealthy (for you) to have this hatred in you. I don't blame you at all for being angry - I am angry with this whole smoking issue a...

Re: Proposed work place smoking ban in Rhinelander

Nugget, I too agree that people (most) that smoke do not care what they are doing to themselves & are very inconsiderate to others. I do however, think that "wishing" death on others is a very poor way to address this issue.
