Re: Murders in Tomahawk

I know the Tomahawk Library has something (I don't know if they have an index). We have bound newspapers but I believe someone would have to go through them. The library has the newspaper on microfilm. I can borrow these on inter-library loan through the MN History Center. I'm not sure there is an ...

Re: Murders in Tomahawk

I knew there had been a "love triangle" situation in town but didn't know of any others. Yes, that was one. I think I remember the surname but am not posting it. During the same time frame there was another murder involving a family with a long history of domestic violence. During that sa...

Re: Murders in Tomahawk

The year must have been 1983 since several news reports mention that year as being the last time there was a murder in Tomahawk.

Well, 2 of the 4 murders I mentioned were within the city limits. I can't be the only one who remembers these murders.

Murders in Tomahawk

Kerry Tobin wrote in another thread: "on the other hand, I never would have believed there would be two different murders in one year in my lifetime." Kerry, go to the newspaper archives. There was a year in which there were 4 murders, maybe 5. I still lived in Tomahawk. I want to say it w...

Lyle W, I appreciate your PM, by changing the content of your post you make my post or any other that may have followed to not make much sense, The opening post in this thread has to do with the Wausau news media providing the name of a witness as well as wondering why parents would allow their min...

I also don't understand why her parents would approve of her being shown on TV news across the state. If common sense were a requirement for parenthood there'd be a lot fewer parents around. A responsible parent whose child may be a witness in a criminal case protects the child and doesn't allow th...

OK. I'm ignorant. What's the significance of the name Galway? My other cats Wexford, Kilkenny, Donegal are named after Irish towns. Galway is another Irish town. Wexford and Kilkenny were my 1st 2 cats (after the death of many previous cats over 30 years). I'd been in Ireland 2 weeks before I got t...

Kitten Wanted

I will be in Tomahawk later this month. I am looking for a 6 to 8 week old kitten. I had 4 cats but one, a foster cat for 9 months, has returned to his home. My 2 older cats are siblings who will be 4 y.o. in June. Their younger sibling (same mom) is 2 years old this week. His name is Donegal and he...

10 Year Old Father?

This surely has to be a mistake: " Tomahawk's Sidney Peterson, 18, joined the Army National Guard after graduating from Tomahawk School. Her father, Rick, 28, soon followed in her footsteps." When I was in the Navy I had a recruit whose mother had him at age 11. But a father at age 10? :ro...

There are two 51 bridges over the river. There's one in town and there's one near King's Dam. The King's Dam one should still have a decent rating, my kids and I watched it being built about 1985 or so.

I talked with a police officer friend tonight. She said the TV scenes of the site do not begin to show the devastation that has occured. It is so much worse than it appears on TV. The river bed is literally choked with cars. Where it looks like 2 or 3 cars atop one another where the bridge buckles a...
