Re: Stoxen's Closing

Another down side to only having one pharmacy in town is that in the past where it took 20 min. or so to get a prescription it now takes an hour or you might have to stop back the next day. With everyone having to go to the one place they are swamped. Had a prescription called in by the Doc. this mo...

Re: Pansy deer hunters

I have to agree with Jim on this one. I started hunting in the late 50's and remember when we spent the day driving one piece of woods after another. We actually went looking for deer rather than letting them come to us. Now all you see is guys sitting in a tree stand over a pile of corn. Not a whol...

Re: Living the dream

Heard earlier today the Farmer's Almanac is predicting this winter will be long and one of the coldest on record. From the way things have started, it certainly appears that could be the case.

Now how does that fit in with global warming.

Re: Lost Dog

Being from Florida, I know of a few hunters who use dogs to hunt and track the wild hogs down here, along with other animals in a pack setting. If the dog doesn't track, is slow or late in returning, many times they leave them, or even shoot them in the woods. It is horrific, and not saying that th...

Lost Dog

I can't believe that the person from TN was given a citation for allowing his dog to roam free. When you are hunting with a dog it is allowed to run, that is how they find birds. He was searching for the dog until he had to leave for home. It is not like he just turned it loose, let it run and decid...

And it gets even more STUPID ! What ever happened to common sense in this country. Are all these school teachers and administrators out of their minds. If this is the way they think they do not belong teaching children and screwing up their lives. No wonder this country is going he!!. He is just a ...

stupid is as stupid does

What is this world coming to ? ? ? Since when is it any of the school’s business what kids do in their own yard on their own time. These school administrators need to be fired, drawn and quartered ! ! ! The kids were playing with a toy gun for heavens sake. If this was the case not too many years a...

Re: Boy Scout decision on membership

Deb, I think it is great that you were involved for a time in the program as they can always use leaders. In contrast, I have been involved with scouting in one capacity or another for over 50 years and have seen a lot of changes, some good, some not so good. So yes, when it comes to Boy Scouts, I d...

Re: Boy Scout decision on membership

If they are interested in boys they may not be openly gay, but I certainly would not consider them straight. Calling pedophiles straight is just another way of describing a closet gay that has just managed to hide it for a long time and took advantage of the opportunity. Scouting has worked hard for...

Re: Boy Scout decision on membership

Obviously people who know nothing about the program or were not able to handle being a scout.

I wonder how you would feel knowing that your son was sharing a tent on a campout with a boy who was interested in other boys. I have no doubt that a lot of parents will have this concern.

Boy Scout decision on membership

Any organization that is willing to get rid of its basic foundation principles just because they are not popular with a very small vocal group of misguided individuals does not deserve to have custody of our youth. Now that they have made the mistake of throwing away their principles and values This...

Re: Gun Control Law Proposals

As for the Gov. buying all the ammunition, within days of the shooting out at Sandy Hook, and the subject of gun control was brought up ammunition was flying off the shelves. A friend of mine in Austin, TX was telling me that within days the shelves were either empty or ammunition was being rationed...

Re: Gun Control Law Proposals

Kerry wrote; Tom, I considered joining the NRA multiple times and each and every time I've decided against it. The NRA has gotten too extreme in my personal opinion and therefore I won't support their organization. Since it's estimated that somewhere between 43-55 million households in the US have a...

Re: ATV's on the streets

Not everyone makes a weekend of watching Lawrence Welk on PBS, and going to bed at 8:00pm. Fuddie-duddiness, plan and simple. Considering that you don't know me I will ignore such a dumb comment as due to you having a lack of any intelligent argument. I have probably been more places and done more ...

Re: ATV's on the streets

Does anyone see a problem here? I sure do, intolerance and a lack of understanding on your part. River Rat What I see is a total lack of understanding on your part of the points we are trying to make. And what makes you think that there is any common sense involved in this decision. All that is dri...

Re: ATV's on the streets

One of the big concerns about ATVs in the downtown is, according to city ordinance, ATVs are required to travel to the far right of paved streets, which motorcycles are not. This means ATVs will be "hugging" the bumpers of diagonally parked vehicles when they navigate the downtown. Whethe...

Re: ATV's on the streets

Frankly Kerry, we can argue this all day and play what if games till the cows come home. This has nothing to do with mopeds, or motorcycles. The bottom line is these machines were never designed or intended for use on the street or highway and they don't belong there. That's all I have to say about ...

Quote: I can just see someone backing out of a parking place on Wis. Ave. and not being able to see the dang thing and hitting or being hit by one. While most of the ATVs I deal with are the larger "work" kind, they have all been single passenger models that are larger than my motorcycle ...
