Re: the passion of the christ

I don't know... Have many of you ever visited old ghost towns in the west? Ever notice that the doors are pretty short? I'm not a very tall guy and I had to duck for a good portion of them. I believe in general we are slowly getting taller (unfortunately we are also getting wider but that is a whole...

Re: Downtown

I've been many places that place signs that there is no biking on the sidewalks, I can understand that and think that might be a good idea. Other than that I think this is kind of stupid. If they are completely blocking a sidewalk there is a problem and something could probably be written to handle ...

Re: Congratulations Wisconsin!

Bob, It is difficult to tell this year since the only other vote on the ballot was for a non-partisan office (judge). However, as recently as 2000 you could only vote in one party (I just looked up a sample ballot to confirm my memory). I don't know if Wisconsin changed its law since then or if it j...

Re: Congratulations Wisconsin!

Baby, Don't worry, you are right. Wisconsin's primary is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. You can only vote for one party or the other. Due to this fact if there was an important election in any part of the state that would be determined by the primary (Lincoln County Sheriff in 2000) then ...

Re: Super Bowl Half Time

So Jeff basically what you are saying is that because no one protested something earlier we can't protest that it has been pushed even further??? Based on that line of thinking the Nazis were completely right in what they were doing (no one protested it before), slavery should still be practiced, th...

t.I. I grew up in Tomahawk, went to two different universities, and now live elsewhere. I've also been coast to coast and out of the country. I listen to just about every kind of music (well, I guess I skip most classical and all polka). I'm 24 and I do go to the bars (even in the Twin Cities) and I...

Re: JFlosum calls for Hillary to resign!

Bob, no one is saying Hillary will run this election. She'd have to be nuts... There are already too many people running and even she probably admits Bush has too good a chance of winning again. However, I have no doubt that she'll run in 2008. There isn't a clear replacement for Bush at that point....

Old Scout,

Please contact me with a Private Message if there is any information we have that is incorrect.

We also have noticed statements that are incorrect (some not even part of the incident).

Good luck to the family, I know this is a terrible time.

Re: Tomahawk Desert?

Jeff, the flood rains (and did it ever flood, the Post Crescent ran a picture of a S-10 pickup with water up to its windows) helped in the Fox Valley but we were still pretty dry there too. There was brown grass and we had the same leaves falling without changing color in places.

Bureaucratic paralysis of national forests in state

A consortium of Wisconsin business, local government and forestry interests met in Wausau in August to share thoughts and concerns about the ailing forest industry in Wisconsin. What they heard was frightening for both the economy and the health of the state's abundant forests. They learned that Wis...

Northern townships stand against unfair library taxation

Because of higher equalized values in Lincoln County's northern townships, we find a significant portion of our taxes levied for libraries drifting south to T.B. Scott Library in Merrill, a facility few residents in the north use. Take Bradley for example: Out of the $121,157 the residents are taxed...

Abraham, First, as you know, for an article like this you need to post a link to the story. Second, if you are going to post articles anywhere in these threads give an opinion of what your are posting or don't bother. If you would like people to be able to continue to discuss this please post a new ...

Re: With All Due Respect

The penny pincher idea sounds great in concept, unfortunately, someone like this would have no idea how a big business works, much less an entire government. This would be like telling a four year old to defuse a nuclear bomb. You would much rather have someone who has at least had some bomb squad t...

Re: With All Due Respect

Wasn't 60 Minutes the one that did the story on the, "exploding pickup trucks"? Funny, I think pretty much every vehicle does that when you put explosives in the gas tank and push the big red button. I'm not arguing for either side here but you can't trust everything you see, hear, read (u...

Re: With All Due Respect

cmoo, I think that is just about the most short-sighted thing I have ever heard. Hey, lets go overthrow an entire government and then leave! Here is the problem with your line of thought. First, Saddam would simply walk right back in and now he would have the power to get revenge. Second, what suppo...

Re: whiney neighbors

Lacym099, There is a bit difference between the more natural sounds of the woods than a dog that won't shut up. At times we can hear dogs barking inside our house and there isn't much of anything more annoying than listening to a dog bark for hours on end. Second, many people want to use their yards...

Re: POWER OUTAGE TRACED TO DIM BULB IN WHITE HOUSE

Now lets be a little fair here. The economy was heading for the crapper long before Bush had anything to do with it. Sooner or later people were bound to figure out that you couldn't sell everything under the sun on the web (even the crap people won't buy in person) and technology doesn't always mak...

Re: Letter to editor about Wolves

Baby, I hear this one time a dog attacked a kid. Because of this I strongly advocate the immediate killing of all dogs! Ya know, I've heard of areas where squirrel biting is a problem so we should kill all of those too. I hate to break it too people but wild animals are just that, wild. They are a p...
