Old Scout, I just spoke with your wife and she's anxious to speak with you about your 'smoke detector' comments.

I hope Dog 'N Suds is still in business because I have a feeling you're going to be eating out for awhile

You are living on the razor edge, mister 8)

I think it's a great NEW law! I am soooo glad it is in Madison. I think we should continue to allow our government to tell us how we should live our lives SAFELY. "No smoking" in a tavern is like trying to print the Tomahawk Leader without ink, see how long that last.

Racefanatic, I wouldn't get too excited. It's been working pretty well in a number of places for years. I believe Wisconsin is the 23rd state to pass a smoking ban that includes bars and workplaces. Even Montana, which until a couple of years ago legally allowed you to drink while you were driving, passed a smoking ban this year.

I'd say it's more like trying to print the Leader without swear words. They're unnecessary and everyone is better off without them...

Racefanatic, there are more cities in Wisconsin than I'm sure you realize that have had smoking bans for quite sometime. With much success!

It's reality check time. Time to make it an even playing field for all of us. I work in a smoke free environment, I would like to play in one as well.

The state of our economy and tougher drunk driving laws have created the decrease in bar patrons, not smoke free.

Well, if the pubs in Ireland can go smoke free, as they did about 5 years ago, I am sure the bars in Tomahawk will survive.

It seems like it is going to the ruination of bar life as we know it. But all the bars around here that went smokeless merely put a smoking section somewhere outside and it's business as usual.

Of course I don't ever remember 10 below zero here in sunny California. Well there was that one night game at Candlestick Park.

Kmart, you probably know what I mean. :D

All the bars and restaurants that I know of in CA 'adjusted' to the no smoking ban with some initial gripping some years ago when it was first implemented. The first year the adjustment was a little hard but no business that I know of went out of business because of it or lost any business. The smokers simply found a solution by going outside as Floyd mentioned. It went from a kind-of-a-big-deal to nothing at all. It's just an accepted fact of life now and I think EVERYBODY is happy with it and happy to deal with it. Personally I really like coming home from the bar and feeling good but not stinking bad :D

And yes, the only place in CA that gets below zero were the Giant night games at Candlestick and any 49er game there. But that's slowly changing...the Giants have a nice warm cozy expensive and 'high brow' park in the City now. And the 49ers are negotiating to build a new stadium near San Jose in the city of Santa Clara...where the weather is always beautiful and expensive (of course).

And Floyd, only my rich uncle goes by the name of K-mart...I still go by the name of Ken. And I know what you're doing you dog  ...but that's cool !!! I hope you and everyone have a great, safe, and fun Memorial Weekend. We're going to the Sunday lineup at the http://www.santacruzbluesfestival.com/. Killer lineup on Sunday. If you all get out here sometime I'll take you...you'd love it. 8)
