Mike McKenzie signed a new contract with the Packers a couple of years ago. He received $3.5 million just to sign that deal. Now he does not want to honor the last two years of that contract.
He feels underpaid at $3 mill/year. He makes his dispeasure with his contract sound noble because he is "also protesting the fact that the assistant to the DB coach was passed over for a promotion."
Bull. I'll bet that if the Packers had offered him ANOTHER bonus and reworked his deal to add a couple $million/year this nonsense would never have hit the press. Live in the real world Mike McKenzie. You'd soon find out how happy you were while the Packers "disrespected" you to the tune of $3 million per year.

Re: McKenzie vs GB Packers
Back to the original topic. I hope that the Packers would have the guts to let McKenzie retire. He signed a contract, he wasn't coerced.
He should honor the deal he was happy to sign.
The way the system works there are a few players who will make more over a contract who are not as skilled. Their contracts came up for negotiation a year or two later. McKenzie should deal with it. Favre has. When will players realize that the more that they demand for themselves, the less there is to give to the rest of the team?
