Telemarketing Religion
No personal offense to anyone on the message board, however, I think the Jehovah Witness church has just reached a new low. A call to my home phone wanting to send me a brochure letting me know what's wrong with our world and God's plan for fixing it. The woman calling did not idenitfy herself as such until I asked her affiliation. If they feel so strongly about what they believe and really want to reach out, why would the number on my caller ID come up as "private"?!?! The caller knew my name but wouldn't give me her name. I don't get why they need to be almost sneaky. I don't believe God works in that manner. I told her as much and asked that my name be removed from their call list. I wonder if they are violating the do not call list laws.

I entered the Jehovah's Witness Protection Program in 2002 and they haven't found me since.

Good grief the poor woman was just trying to be PC! Seems there are followers that are calling for life in prison. What a sad state of affairs.

Good grief, the potato incident goes back to the infancy of the message board, looks like someone needs to get a life.

The no-call laws only apply to for-profit organizations. Religions like to pass themselves off as non-profit so they can get a discount on mailings, tax-exemptions on certain purchases, and build very expensive buildings in nice places and pay no taxes. Technically this precludes them from getting too involved in politics and endorsements and such but I guess the enforcement might be a little lax on that issue.
I suspect the Jehovah's Witness people are just trying to cut done on fuel expenses. One would think they would just induce religious visions in people and save even the phone call or better yet they should advertise on the Leader website.
