Marriott Hotels go Smoke free

Postby NurseNell » Tue Jul 25, 2006 12:07 pm

From an email I received from Marriott: " In order to accommodate the preferences of the vast majority of our guests, all Marriott® hotels in the United States and Canada will become 100% smoke-free by October 15, 2006.....................The new policy includes all guest rooms, restaurants, lounges, meeting rooms, public spaces, and employee work areas. ..................."

I will be staying at Marriott when I travel. They are obviously interested in public health and they recognize that the majority of Americans do not smoke.

Very nice, this doesn't surprise me in the least. I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Marriott a few years back while staying in Nassau. While eating breakfast (quite early) Mr. Marriott and his entourage visited the property we were staying. He stopped and introduced himself, was very friendly and down to earth. I think it was about 7 or 8 years ago, if I remember correctly some of the dining areas were smoke free at that time. However, the main lobby was not.
