Don't anyone say I am not a sharing person. I'm sharing this email message with you. My own feeling is that if the government is going to interlope in the realm of marriage and start banning the ones it doesn't like then it should be equitable and ban all of them.

Subject: IN DEFENSE OF BIBLICAL MARRIAGE

The Presidential Prayer Team is currently urging us to "Pray for the President as he seeks wisdom on how to legally codify the definition of
marriage. Pray that it will be according to Biblical principles. With many forces insisting on variant definitions of marriage, pray that
God's Word and His standards will be honored by our government."

So here -- in support of the Prayer Team's admirable goals -- is a proposed Constitutional Amendment codifying marriage ENTIRELY ON
BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES:

A. Marriage in the United States shall consist of a union between one man
and one or more women.
(Gen 29:17-28 and II Sam 3:2-5)

B. Marriage shall not impede a man's right to take concubines in addition
to his wife or wives.
(II Sam 5:13 and I Kings 11:3 and II Chron 11:21)

C. A marriage shall be considered valid only if the wife is a virgin. If
the wife is not a virgin, she shall be executed.
(Deut 22: 13-21)

D. Marriage of a believer and a non-believer shall be forbidden.
(Gen. 24:3 and Num 25:1-9 and Ezra 9:12 and Neh 10:30)

E. Since marriage is for life, neither this Constitution nor the
constitution of any State shall be construed to permit divorce.
(Deut 22:19 and Mark 10 )

F. If a married man dies without children, his brother shall marry the
widow. If he refuses to marry his sister-in-law, or deliberately does
not give her children, he shall pay a fine of one shoe and be otherwise
punished in a manner to be determined by law.
(Gen 38:6-10 and Deut 25:5-10)

**********************************************

"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and
more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and
glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire
at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

H.L. Mencken (1880 - 1956)

The classical Scriptural text is the declaration of the Apostle Paul (Eph., v, 22 sqq.), who emphatically declares that the relation between husband and wife should be as the relation between Christ and His Church: "Let women be subject to their husbands, as to the Lord: because the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is the head of the Church. He is the saviour of his body. Therefore as the Church is subject to Christ, so also let the wives be to their husbands in all things. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ also loved the Church, and delivered Himself up for it: that He might sanctify it, cleansing it by the laver of water in the word of life; that He might present it to Himself a glorious church not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy, and without blemish. So also ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife, loveth himself. For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth it and cherisheth it, as also Christ doth the Church: because we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones." After this exhortation the Apostle alludes to the Divine institution of marriage in the prophetical words proclaimed by God through Adam: "For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and shall cleave to his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh." He then concludes with the significant words in which he characterizes Christian marriage: "This is a great sacrament; but I speak in Christ and in the Church."

A well delivered sermon Aphephilia. Maybe you could get your own church.

I will dwell on this a day or two and maybe by then Baby will have analyzed this thread and delivered some comprehensive exegesis.

Historically, I don't quite see where marriage would or has prevented this. It seems to be almost hardwired: gossipers versus non-gossipers. The rest tells me that it is easy to get opposing "charges" from god if you use the christian bible for your guide to life.

Aphephilia, you know very well that this means belonging to two or more polo teams at one time. The church has always frowned upon this.

Freud would say you suffer from "Red Pen Obsession".

Always blaming the Catholic Church Aphephilia. Seems to me you didn't get your knuckles rapped often enough. Your penance is 1,000 Hail Mary's said while kneeling on a cold marble floor.

Yes, as a matter of fact I was, jimbo.
And Nell? would I happen to have my arms outstretched with big old dictionaries in the palm of my hands, while kneeling on a cold marble floor, saying my Hail Marys? ;)
Oh, and jimbo? it's called joking around ;)
Actually, I didnt experience any of those things while attending St Mary's Catholic School in Tomahawk WI. I enjoyed my years there so much that I sent both my daughters there. My mother went there too. It's a family tradition!
And while I'm thinking about it, does anyone happen to know of a good chiropractor in the Wausau area? I really miss the miracle hands of Dr. James Barr.
How's that for rambling in a nonsensical manner?

baby, no one asked what polygamy is. I asked what pologamy was. You are the one who mentioned pologamy and that's when Abraham was so kind to point out that it was something about two polo teams. Ahhhhhhh ODDS BODKINS!!! forget it!

Aphephilia just sitting here in total amazement, shaking her head,

NurseNell: Good to see you again (so to speak).

-----------------
Baby: I was making an attempt at being facetious and henceforce will resume my normally, dolefully, earnest disposition (after this message). "Pologamy" seems to be a common mis-spelling of "Polygamy" especially among Mid-eastern english speakers. I knew what you meant.

I think we can take the Apostle Paul's position to formulate a biblical position on the use of cell phones while driving. I'm already thinking of a bumper sticker. "Gossip while driving &
Go to **** " Rom. 1.29;
1 Tim. 5.13

This would extend the bumper sticker I now have which has a truncated version of the message.
