Anybody out there care to comment on Martha's plight? Will she be having a garden behind bars? :D

If she does go to prison Im certain her head will explode. Theres no way she could cope with that. This woman has managed to become filthy rich by capitalizing on her own anal-retentiveness. Im guessing that getting raped in prison on a regular basis is not her cup of tea. We are talking about a woman who has multiple huge closets reserved exclusively for tablecloths. Each tablecloth is meticulously rolled - using a very precise technique so that it is not wrinkled - in special non staining paper, then hermetically sealed then neatly labelled and inserted into its own little tablecloth cubby in the closet. This cubby of course is neatly labelled along with the other 500 tablecloth cubbies so that the perfect tablecloth can be easily selected for the proper occasion.

We need to find some way to put Oprah and Dr Phil in prison too. That would be super. We could dedicate an entire prison wing to them. Call it the "Filthy Rich Self-Worshipping Superstars with no Recognizable Talent Wing".

It appears as if someone has a problem with the rich or successful people in general.

As if Martha will end up in a regular prison. Let's be realistic, it will be one of those country club type places where she can practice her "Susie Homemaker" skills. I'm willing to bet she never will see a jail cell of any sort. People that carry 2 handbags into court, one that reportedly retails for $10,000 don't end up in prison. What was up with that?

I do have one thing in common with Martha. We have the same hometown, Nutley, New Jersey ;) Nutley is better known as the home of Hoffman-LaRoche, the developer and producer of valium as well as many other medicines. Maybe Martha is needing a lot of her hometown's best known product these days.

cmoo!

Not mention Windows ME!!

I agree ski. Some people want to see her “cut down to size” or “put in her place” just because she has been successful. Petty jealousy.

No matter now rich she is or how big a jerk she is, I still don't think we should be wasting our time and money on what should be a non-issue.

When they failed to make their case the insider trading violation, which they all agreed there was no evidence to prove ever happened, this thing should have went away. This has become a matter of some over zealous prosecutor now has to hammer her until they get some kind of conviction or offer in compromise pleading.

If they are going to start prosecuting everyone they think lied to them when accused of a crime, we will have to build about a million new courtrooms. Or are we just going to hold the rich and/or famous to a higher standard?

I wondered what Kenneth Starr was doing these days without Clinton's penis to fixate on...

If she`s found guilty , I think she should be sentenced to be my personal maid and cook!!

Good question Brian... and to think Star is now lecturing and/or teaching or dean or president of one of our countries universities but then again so is Clinton and Gore. An obvious case where three wrongs makes for three wrongs.

But I fail to see any real comparisons to the Clinton and Stewart case.

In the case of Clinton there was at least the premises of national security interests, political bribery or favors etc. etc. Not that they were ever successful in building a case anywhere near to the level of the efforts put forth. Not against Clinton. But there was a governor and a banker or two and a few others that were dirty and convicted. I was never a big support of the White water prosecution in regards to Clinton after if failed to produce much in the early stages.

On the other hand, in Stewart’s case, once they dropped the insider trading case, what is the premise here? Hang her for being rich or for being a celebrity, or just because she is a jerk?

Clinton did lie, he admits that himself, he did get disbarred and he did have sex in the oval office. Some level of prosecution was maybe warranted, however the Whitewater fiasco was just that a fiasco. Just like a lot of other fiascos carried out simply for the sake of partisan politics… from both sides of the aisle!

KEN!!! So funny! Hey, do we all get a dinner invite if you get your wish!??

Personal cook AND maid. I like it.
Actually, folks, it does seem to be partisan politics. It's a measley 50K or so, hardly worth the effort that's being put forth to "bring her to justice." There's far worse things going on for far more money that aren't being so highly pofiled. It's the partisan politics that disgusts me.
I consider myself lucky for I can look out out one side of my house to "purple mountains majesty" and turn around and see "the fruited plains." What has happened to our America?
And, yes, I was born and raised in a great place called Tomahawk. :)

Cute JFlosum, but man, you've got way too much time on your hands. Maybe that time would be better spend working on our spelling, mmm. ;)

People seem to forget that some of the greatest authors of our time lacked good spelling skills. F. Scott Fitzgerald for example, editors cringed when receiving manuscripts from him. Basic words that most 1st graders spell correctly he misspelled. Then again, he died young. Could there be a connection. I guess my point is that in the big picture of life spelling errors on the Leader message board really don't make a pinch of dukey difference. To those that are spelling challenged, keep posting and remember Martha Stewart rocks. After all this thread is about Martha Stewart.

Gosh O'gee. All Rock music writers were probably bad spellers too by the sound of their music. Now lets get back to Martha.

ODDS BODKINS! you`re right , let`s get back to Martha.
As I said, I think if found guilty, she should be not only sentenced to be my personal housekeeper and cook, but her prison uniform should be one of those pretty French maid outfits!
