Is Alan Colmes of Hannity & Colmes a lousy liberal?

Postby JFlosum » Mon Oct 13, 2003 4:43 pm

Alan Colmes has once again surprised me with his clear headed thinking on an issue that no doubt many of his fellow liberals will find hard to pass up the opportunity to exploit.

It was Colmes who blasted the media for their one sided and inaccurate reporting of what was happening during the first days of the Iraq war. He also called for and practiced a self-imposed moratorium on second-guessing the president with speculation and innuendo while American troops were in the heat of battle.

Now he makes these comments about Rush and his personal problems:

“I'm a big fan of Rush's, not a political agreer of his, but
someone who realizes what he's meant to our industry. I feel for
him and his family. I want to see him get over this.”

“And you know there are going to be those people, of
course, because he has been controversial, who are going to use
this against him. I think that would be a shame.”

This is a partial transcript from Hannity & Colmes, October 10, 2003, that has been edited for clarity.

I wonder if Clarke and other liberals we be calling for Colmes to resign from the I Hate Rush Club? :D :D

Incidentally, the editing that is mentioned above was done by Fox, not me.

If you want a reading of Colmes (of Fox News) and
of HANNITY and colmes fame, read Al Franken's new
book. TeamFranken, composed of a remarkable group of Harvard students from across the country & across political persuasions ran down the factual information made by various politicians and political pundits. I can understand why Colmes would "appreciate" Rush Limbaugh after years of playing straight man for Sean Hannity. But read the book. Look for the facts, not just
opinions based on very little information. In my
view, based on information from some of the people
who hired Rush Limbaugh with whom I taked and from
sources like Newsweek, I think Rush Limbaugh is a
very troubled person. He is to be pitied for that. Perhaps his rehabilitation will allow him to reassess his own humanity and the damage he has
inflicted upon others, often on the basis of very
little information but lots of partisan bile.
