Enough about the cry baby who doesn't want to compete for his job.

Have the Packers signed ANY of their draft picks? How about Ryan Grant's hold out? Is the lack of progress due to the fact that the Packers have a new guy in charge of contracts & monitoring the salary cap??

Really, I don't think Favre is being a "cry baby". From the sports talk shows, the interview on Greta, and the like, I think there was extreme pressure put on him for a decision. This guy was coming off an emotional roller coaster of a season. I'm of the opinion that the Packer organization is most responsible for this situation. I still think Brett should have sought counseling, (Not Dr. Phil!) maybe he did, before coming to a final decision. The breakdown at the press conference wasn't that of a guy that had thought his decision through completely. The whole ordeal has been blown way to out of proportion. I think there needs to be some changes in management direction with the Packer organization, from GM on down. Sad to say but I think we have a "good ole boy" network going at GB more than ever. To this point GB fans have been tried and true, I wouldn't want to see that change. Heaven forbid we become a fandom of fair weather, like those in MN and Chicago!

I totally disagree - Brett was not pressured into a decision. This is the third time he has flip/flopped over this question. Enough is enough - move on as planned. The situation that he is in was brought on by Brett - not anyone else. How many times do the fans & the team need to be put on hold. MOVE ON. I feel the management is doing what is best for the team in planning for the future - not just the here & now.

Hey Jeff.... you're going to have a real hard time getting people to stay on topic. Talking about the 'cry baby' is so much easier and fun then having to think about the topics you brought up. I have a feeling this is going to drive you up the wall but maybe you can think of it as character building

Topic, schmopic. "Cry baby" and Brett in the same sentence are fighting words.

Ken, call me whatever you wish! I'm sure one thing we all agree upon is that the Pack have a good season. Schmopic, leftover lutefisk no, more like my Jewish uncle. OK, I'm done posting!

Deb,
You have two other Favre strings on this board to vent. Use them.

So, no one else concerned/curious that none of the Packer draft picks have signed a contract with training camp only five days away? Or that the one effective running back on the roster has not been awarded a new contract?

Guess no one has ever gone off topic before, new concept for you Jeff? I won't suggest anything like checking the archieves. Annoying, aren't I? Good.

Deb,
I'd expect no less from this board (myself included) and I'm disappointed that you took me seriously.

Jeff

released on Packers.com:

posted 07/23/2008

The Green Bay Packers have signed tackle Breno Giacomini, quarterback Matt Flynn and wide receiver Brett Swain. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the signings Wednesday.

Giacomini, a 6-foot-7, 311-pound player from Louisville, was a fifth-round selection (No. 150 overall). He started all 12 games at right tackle in 2007 for the nation's No. 6-ranked offense.

A 6-foot-2, 222-pound signal caller, Flynn was the Packers' first seventh-round pick (No. 209 overall). He capped his collegiate career by leading LSU to the 2007 BCS National Championship.

Swain, a 6-foot, 203-pound player from San Diego State, was Green Bay's second selection in the seventh round (No. 217 overall). He earned second-team All-Mountain West Conference honors in 2007 after leading the team with 58 catches for 973 yards and five touchdowns.

Four down, five to go for the rookies. (I sure hope Ryan Grant's deal gets done soon too.)

It was disappointing to hear that the ex-Badger punter was released by GB before training camp. This new 80 player roster limit will hurt many potential free agents.

That was good news. If Abdul Hodge has recovered from his knee tendonitis problems the Packers will have five very good linebackers. (Actually six if you count White who is a special teams stand out.)

I heard that they signed their 4th round pick, so that means four more to go + Grant.

I'm disappointed that the Packers didn't really start to negotiate with Grant until last Friday. He singlehandedly revived the Packer running game last year.
