Annex creates new, larger HAVEN …

Dear Editor,

Tuesday, February 17, 2009 became a historic day for HAVEN, Inc. The members of the Lincoln County Board unanimously approved our offer to purchase the Annex building on Eighth St. Thank you to each of you.
This means that we will create a larger space for victims and children using our services. Confidentiality and safety will be greatly increased, also.

With this renovation project, instead of building new, we will save about $1,000,000. The renovation will cost about $500,000. Any donated materials or labor from our community will decrease that cost even more.

Thank you to the members of the Lincoln County Board for allowing HAVEN, Inc. this opportunity to improve the victim services we provide in this cost effective manner.

Sincerely, Judy Woller
HAVEN, Inc. Executive Director

Feb. 24, 2009 Letter:
HAVEN has community support…

Letter to the Editor:

Kudos to the Lincoln County Board for accepting HAVEN’s offer to purchase the Annex Building on 8th Street! Thank you, ladies and gentlemen of the Board for your unanimous vote! You have affirmed on a large scale the community support that HAVEN has experienced since its inception over 25 years ago. It was then that a group of progressive citizens put together a vision of safe shelter, support, advocacy, and education for victims of domestic abuse and an education program for prevention. As HAVEN has outgrown its original shelter and added more programs, it is appropriate that the organization move to a building that has served the community so well. This is an excellent beginning to the new and exciting phase of HAVEN’s continued community service.

Judy Weaver
HAVEN Board of Directors
