To the Editor (A letter in the Dec. 11, 2007, Tomahawk Leader)
In a recent newspaper article, a lady questioned Sen. Breske’s waste of taxpayers’ money to send a letter, recognizing her husband as a second place winner in a fishing contest. She is right. Sen. Breske should be using his time to handle concerns of the constituents rather than campaigning full time for the next election. A news story just released says Breske is double dipping our tax dollars.
I have been in business in his district since 1974 and periodically I have had to deal with a state agency. When our previous district representatives, Tom Ourada and Sen. Lloyd Kincaid were in office they got things done. It took one phone call to get an answer. I didn’t have to write letters and more letters to get a response. We also had that great leader in Tiny Krueger from Merrill. When he spoke they listened.
In the last two years I contacted Sen. Breske and Rep. Friske concerning two problems with state agencies. They pay lip service and provide little effort to get answers. It never used to be this way.
Tiny Krueger, Tom Ourada and Lloyd Kincaid were leaders for the north. Today the Madison, Milwaukee special interest groups call the shots and our representatives dance in harmony.
They attend every photo op event, shake hands at the county fairs and campaign year round. They get entrenched with special interest money to get greased back in office. This keeps under-funded candidates from getting elected. We are part of the problem.
We need to speak out against this money grabbing special interest system and take our government back. Term limits are the answer. Change will not happen unless “we the people” join hands, to make it happen. The voter motto should be “two terms and out.”
