A Letter in the April 25 Tomahawk Leader
To the People of Tomahawk,
After being in the South all winter, I came back to what I thought was a wonderful Tomahawk and was so disappointed. As I drove through the alleyways and some of the roads and saw all the litter, I thought of years ago when we had a city beautification committee. I remember most of the churches helped. We each had an area to clean up. If the churches feel like taking part in this again, it would be so neat because I know a lot of people feel the way I do and want to be proud of our town.
OK, you business people, get that back door cleaned up, painted and rake around the back of your business. I know you want it to look nice, too, but sometimes we have to get going and get things cleaned up. Our alleys also need new blacktopping.
Who do we have that’s supposed to enforce our ordinances for cleanup in this city?
So, churches and others, if you can possibly do it, the last week in April is Cleanup Week, or even the first week in May if you don’t get it done.
Let’s fill those garbage bags and stack them along the road and see if some of our county and city people pick them up.
