A Letter to the Editor in the Nov. 27 Tomahawk Leader:
To The Leader:
The Lincoln County United Christmas Spirit Appeal is a county-wide effort to coordinate Christmas giving by matching those in need with individuals or groups that want to give gifts to those in need. Area churches, civic groups, businesses and schools unite in an effort to serve as many people in need as possible. This is the 12th year of this program. Last year over 500 people receive gifts.
The committee which oversees this project includes: Irene Mehlos, Jean Hall, Carol Weber, Rev. Carolyn Saunders, Art Lersch, Sr. Mary Thomas, Lynn Zentner, Karen Jantz and Judy Woller.
If you are in need of someone to buy your child’s gifts, you need to apply before Dec. 5. Late applications will not be honored. You can call Karen at 536-9563 or obtain an application at the HELP Center, North Central Community Action, St. Vincent’s DePaul, (Lincoln County) Social Services, Comunidad Hispana, schools, churches and HAVEN.
This has been a wonderful project which provides gifts to very needy families. In order to protect the integrity, please make all contributions for gifts and requests for gifts to Karen at 536-9563 or to Lincoln County United Christmas Spirit Appeal, P.O. Box 32, Merrill, WI 54452. All donations and requests must go through this central data base in order to eliminate duplication and to keep an accurate record of the donations. This is the only address for United Lincoln County Christmas Spirit Appeal.
… If you or your business, civic group, class or club is interested in sponsoring a child or family, please call Karen (at the above phone number or mail to the above address).
