A letter in the July 31 Tomahawk Leader:

Letter to the Editor

Don't let names fool you! Comprehensive planning ("Smart Growth") is terrible for our communities!

State Reps. Friske, Petrowski, Gronemus, Suder and Williams (to name a few) are very concerned about comprehensive planning being bad for Wisconsin. Why? Why are community leaders in Idaho, Alabama and Oregon telling us to beware of comprehensive planning? Why is industry leaving Wisconsin because of "Smart Growth"? And why are only 18 of our 72 counties involved in comprehensive planning when by Wisconsin law every county is supposed to be by 2010?

Maybe because other states have already found out that comprehensive planning is terribly controlling and expensive. Maybe because our paper mills and furniture factories are finding out that "Smart Growth" is shutting down access to the forestry products they need. And maybe because some of our community leaders have taken the time to look behind the curtain ... and you can too!

WSAU News Radio (550 AM) out of Wausau has been broadcasting a series of nine weekly shows on the dangers of "Smart Growth"/Comprehensive Planning. The last show will be on Aug. 6 from 9-10:30 a.m with community leaders from northern Wisconsin telling us why they are against this comprehensive planning. You can also read transcripts of these shows at Learn why attorneys and other experts in property rights are saying that "Comprehensive Planning is deadly!" Or learn about a much better alternative called LEARN that's citizen-driven, effectively free and freedom protecting.

LEARN – Now that's a name I want to learn about!
