A Letter in the March 13 Tomahawk Leader:
Letter to the Editor:
What a wonderful opportunity we all had to read Pat Burg’s explanations and excuses for closing Midway School. Weren’t you all so impressed with the questionable statistics she informed us of? But did you notice how tactfully she omitted the many alternatives which have been brought forward by the Charter School Board and editorials? Did you see any information on how many administrators we have in our “low enrollment” school district? Did you see any admission as to what the salaries of these administrators are? Did you see any mention of cutting back by combining the job of these administrators who have the time to take a mid-morning break and go to a local restaurant for breakfast? Did you see any notation that the superintendent was willing to forego her 15 percent raise and be content with $100,000 a year? Did you see any mention as to how many secretaries we have in our “low enrollment” district?
Did you see any statistics comparing the number of administrators and enrollment 10 years ago to now? I was told by one administrator there are fewer administrators now than there were then. Do you believe it? I don’t. Did you see any statistics on what was spent on each of these alternative students when they could attend our public schools and what it will cost the citizens for them to be put in this alternative school?
No, Ms. Burg we did not see any of the information our citizens would like to know because it wouldn’t paint a very pretty picture of our “high paid” too many leaders in this “low enrollment” district. Would it?
