A letter in the April 24 Tomahawk Leader:
In our busy lives, nothing is more valuable than time. Volunteers – people who choose to give their time to make this a better community – are very valuable indeed!
The American Red Cross takes a moment to thank these countless individuals here at home and across the country who make up 96 percent of the national Red Cross workforce! In central and northern Wisconsin over 350 of your neighbors volunteer through the American Red Cross. In our eight-county service area, these volunteers respond to local disasters such as fires, flooding and power outages; many volunteer to go across the state or nation if needed. They teach people lifesaving skills such as water safety, babysitting and disaster preparedness. They help local military families exchange emergency messages with their loved one and serve on our local board. They help make sure blood is there when it is needed by organizing blood drives, recruiting donors and more.
We thank our volunteers here in Lincoln County. It is hard to imagine what kind of community we would have without you and the services you provide.
