Peanut Run PR …

Postby Tomahawk Leader » Tue Jul 31, 2007 6:12 pm

A letter in the July 31 Tomahawk Leader:

Abigail Wix and the Tomahawk Leader:

Tomahawk Harley-Davidson Employee Rider Association (ERA) members would like to thank you for your contribution that made our 2007 second annual Peanut Run for Camp American Legion a success. We were able to buy 350 pounds of peanuts and donate a check for $2,500. This facility is run completely by volunteers and donations. If you ever have a chance to visit the facility please do so. Someone would be more than happy to give you a tour. It is a place for our veterans to come and recuperate and enjoy a relaxing time.

The articles that were printed in your paper helped people to understand what the Peanut Run is all about and was a big factor in the turnout that we had this year. Also thanks for printing the thank you message that we put in the paper.

Thank you
Mary Wilke, Red Ingman, Robert Sabatke, Jeff Hess, Dick McCarthy

The article about the peanut run was also reprinted in the American Legion, Dept. of Wis. newspaper the "Badger Legionnaire" which just came out. All American legion members in the state will get to see it. :)
The National Institutes of Health has just released the results of a $200 million research study completed under a grant to Johns Hopkins.
The new study has found that women who carry a little extra weight live longer than the men who mention it.

My husband just received his copy of the "Badger Legionnaire", it was great seeing the article. My husband is a member by Sons of the American Legion, Post 75 Fond du Lac. What a nice way for those that did not serve to honor those who did by working side by side for the Legion.

Just for clarity, many of the people participating also served in the military. One retired from the Navy and several served in the Army.

I kinda figured my post wasn't too clear. My meaning was for the Sons of the American Legion. Sons honoring fathers that served by becoming members of the Sons of the Legion. Sorry! Also in this issue of the Badger Legionnaire the American Legion Baseball All-Star Team. Kudos to Drew Christianson for being selected to the north team.
