A letter in the June 3 Tomahawk Leader:
To the Leader:
Due to low attendance at monthly DAV meetings in Rhinelander (Chapter 62), there is a risk the chapter will be discontinued. This is critical because not only does the local chapter fight for the rights of and benefits for disabled veterans, but the commander of the chapter, Steve Meyer, coordinates the DAV van that takes veterans to and from medical appointments at the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Mich., free of charge. Losing the chapter could mean losing the van.
If you are a member of the DAV, you are cordially invited and encouraged to attend the monthly meetings which happen the third Monday of every month at the American Legion building on Coon Street. If you are not a member but would like to be, contact Steve Meyer at 369-7509 or just show up for a meeting.
Steve Meyer, Commander for DAV Chapter 62 and DAV Van Coordinator, 369-7509
Tammy Walters, Oneida County Veterans Service Officer, 369-6127
