Just curious why one thread was locked because it was asking for the names of contractors, yet in another thread about senior transportation, a company name was given. Is this because senior transportation is considered more charitable (even though it may well not be) or because it wasn't caught in time and the admin doesn't want to delete or edit the post? In either case, the admin has the right to do whatever he or she wants, however; censorship is a slippery slope and it can be very difficult to manage what and what not to censor.

I didn't catch the Senior Ride one in time and actually just at the time thought of the way to handle the contractor and other business requests.
While we want to allow most posts and try to keep what we edit down (mostly to maintain a family friendly board) we remain a business. If we allow what amounts to free advertising on the message boards there would be little need to consider purchasing advertising in the newspaper or on the website. If people stop doing that the lights go out. At the same time, we want people to be able to ask questions and get help when the need it.
At this point I will attempt to do what I did with the contractor question in most new cases. It allows people to post their questions and provides a mechanism to provide feedback without having businesses themselves post a large amount of information (a free ad). I actually sent a private message with a suggestion as soon as we locked the topic.
