Re: Town Hall Meeting on Smoking Band
Not that it matters really.. but I for one will not eat in a resterant again and spend my money.. ****.. i am a smoker and my money is no good anyway lol.. I also will not spend my smokers money in a bar. If we go non smoking in private businesses.
I also no a lot of other smokers that will not spend a dime in either of those places.. If i want a fast meal it will be a t.v dinner from the store.
Guess only the non smokers count now a days.. hope they can keep this town going on their own..
I won't a just to this. I shouldn't have to.

Re: Town Hall Meeting on Smoking Band
Did I really say blah, blah, blah, or is that part of your personal belief of a whole big conspiracy against you, that right away you you block out what really was said to you and hear it as blah, blah, blah. Or is it part of your channel-minded existance that you hear it that way. As I said previously, you truly don't believe what you are, ....mean, angry and hostile. I feel that most of us see you as an angry person, all accept you. Doesn't majority win? If you were being judged by a court jury, that would be the case, majority wins. Come on back now real soon, ya all.

Enough back and forth, stick to the issue, drop the personal attacks back and forth or move on...
Re: Town Hall Meeting on Smoking Band
Jeff, thank you for the private message.
Kerry, have no worries, THIS will definately be my last post on this thread . But it is hard not responding to a poster that calls you a Nazi. CarolAnn doesn't know me or what I am about, but still wants to attack, matter-of-factually every one that posts, on this very tired thread. Amen ....and I will wait for another thread that may come along of interest without hostility. Good Bye CarolAnn, may you somehow find peace.

I wonder what Dr. Phil would say about the hostility, love/hate issues on this message board?

Dr. Phil would shake his head in disbelief and tell us that we were the most dysfunctional bunch of wackos he's ever dealt with. And then he would 'go to commercial' and head running for the exit.

Re: Town Hall Meeting on Smoking Band
Well, I guess we're back to the same-o same-o. No posts here for a couple of days. Kind of disappointing not to see new posts popping up.
We had a very 'interesting' run.
There were some intelligent and honest comments and opinions on the subject but mostly this was a study of human nature and how we react to controversy. Yes, I know, it was much more complicated than that but that's as 'deep' as I can deal with right now.
I certainly contributed my part to the good, bad and silly...guilty as sin. But I also learned some stuff about myself (I'm going to analyze the data over a couple of beers during the Super Bowl). I also had fun doing it.
So in a perverted twist I think what happened was a good exercise. Or should I say exorcise.

Ken, don't analyze too the point that you don't enjoy your beer or the Super Bowl commercials. Maybe a Cap'n and diet here!

I just read this entire thread, and I was hoping someone could shed some light on something for me..
Does anyone have any idea what side CarolAnn is on?!
(
No offense meant. While I appreciate your tenacity, I feel that your message might be compromised a bit by the animosity..)
There really isn't anything I can say about this that I haven't said before.
I believe it should be left up to the individual business owners to decide whether they will or will not allow smoking in their establishment.

Re: Town Hall Meeting on Smoking Band
After a short trip down highway 53 to Eau Claire yesteray I'm all for a smoking ban in public, on the street, in cars. Twice while passing I had cars drift toward my lane, both drivers lighting cigarettes. A pet peeve is cigarettes flipped out of a car window, had one bounce off my passenger side mirror while passing during this same trip, that driver stayed in his own lane!!! There does need to be laws!

Re: Town Hall Meeting on Smoking Band
Deb,
I saw some woman in a convertible flip a butt out the window while we were waiting in line at a drive though. I think I was having a bad day because I was seriously considering getting out of my car, picking up the still lit butt and flip it back into the car... Those things are toxic to the environment.
I also wish I had thought of the idea when I had to write papers for college. I wanted to research how much pollution is given off by a single cigarette and then figure out how much it was contributing to CO2, etc. Would have been an interesting paper.

Economic fears are snuffing out smoking bans
In recession, lawmakers seemingly more willing to take side of business
In this economy, lawmakers are more willing to let people smoke 'em if they got 'em.
I just knew that this recession would come in handy for something

Oh, smoking ban. I thought the title said smoking band. I was trying to envision smoking and playing an instrument at the same time.

Re: Town Hall Meeting on Smoking Band
Nell,
I guess you haven't spent enough time in dive bars. A smoking band is a band that is really 'hot', or good. As in "man, the band at the No-Tell Motell lounge was smokin' last night".
We still don't know really what a 'smoking ban' is, or should be, or if it's good, or if it's bad. But nobody's dancing about it.
